I really thought it was a horrible remark he made to Ola. A simple Thank you would be nice , but his lecherous remark about his wife being away was tastelss at best .
I am glad he is gone , odious little man . Ola deserved better and I feel sad that that is what he thought was a good word to say to a lady /

Can you explain his comment in a bit more detail since I don't understand it?

I didn't watch the results show since I looked at the spoiler last night.

He was asked by Tess if he had anything to say to Ola and his only words were
" You are wellcome round mine anytime , and by the way my wife is away tonight "
Not a Thank you or you were great or anything to soften it .

I thought his comment was totally appropriate. He was mocking the outrageous remarks made by Craig yesterday when he was accused of simply ogling Ola through the dance.

I don't like PD but well done to him.

He basically said to Ola, 'the wife's away tonight'.

I didn't like him either, he doesn't come across well. & I thought he was trying to get pity when he said about no one being more deserving of the boot than him.

Do you think then that as well as mocking Craig it would have been nice to also Thank Ola

He's always been a sleazy old perv. Nowt new there. I bet Ola is quite glad she doesn't have to endure him now...

Not the point I thought you were making - but yes he could have. As I said I don't like him, but I don't agree that someone, when obviously trying to learn a dance, should be virtually accused of being a dirty old man and ogling rather than dancing. Perpetuates all sorts of reactions on forums and all that.

It was a completely inappropriate remark to make. I (and I'm sure many other people) had completely forgotten Craig's comments from last night so it didn't even cross my mind that that was the context. It came across as a crass remark and insulting to Ola, who has worked so hard to try and get some kind of dancing out of him.

I was very angry at the disrespect he showed her in general tonight. It may be considered admirable to say you think everyone's better than you and so you should go home, which is true, but to basically say he wanted to leave is an insult to the effort Ola's put in. She was extremely gracious tonight, all credit to her.

Poor Ola - I really liked her last year and as people have said she was very gracious in defeat.

Why would it have been? I know it's not live, but that bit from announcing them as the eliminated couple to the end credits with everyone coming onto the dancefloor is surely recorded in one take...

I felt he should have thanked her but maybe seeing as the results show is actually filmed after the live show - he was still referncing Craigs comments. He was an odd one in general- not as cringworthy as I thought - in fact a bit sad the way he was referencing his "glory days". Debbie McGee must have a lot of patience or be impervious...
A propos nothing- he had a one man show at the Edinburgh Festival a while back. My folks saw him in town trying to park a huge car in a tiny space. Fair play to him , he managed it, My dad said "and thats magic" which they thought was hilarious. However Paul gave them a grumpy look as he must have thought they had been laughing- which just made it even funnier.

I am happy Paul is gone, he looked more like a gremlin each week. I was surprised at his remark to Ola, and also embarrassed for the lovely Debbie in the audience. Ola was unfortunate enough to have been lumbered with him, I will miss her but certainly not him and his ego !!

I thought it was a little licentious.

Wouldnt a "thank you" have been nice??

I think he was trying to be funny. FAIL!

Ola didnt look amused...

I think Ola will be happy enough to be out and I think Paul definately is.

He made a good speech about being the best one to go.

It was more important to thank Ola than to get the joke done, so that was a FAIL.

Ola will now support James and with her having some free time, I cant see that doing anything but help James's chances.

It was a joke or is a sense of humour deemed inappropriate these days , by all , or just those over a certain age ? Oh and his wife was in the audience .

It may have been a joke to you , But to me it was tasteless , I did see his wife and it makes it no less tasteless
And what was worse in my opinion was his complete lack of a Thank you or kind word .

I think thats a little bit much. I have always had the impression that Paul has found it difficult to accept that he isnt the main man anymore(and he was once-his early shows drew 16 million viewers), but I dont think that qualifies him as odious which is a very strong word.

It wasnt the polite thing to say (and we dont know that it was the only thing due to possible editing) but its just a bit of male bravado from someone who is getting on a bit. Nothing more than that.
