wow. Lots of people projecting motives onto Paul when they can't possibly know, not to mention making outrageous slights.

I met him and the lovely Debbie years ago when I worked in a theatre and they came to see the show. He was the most unstarry celeb and didn't want any preferential treatment (unlike most). I've always been kindly-disposed to him since.
Thanks for this posting. I concur having been a stooge on his stage show a few years ago. A real gent.

I have to say when I heard him say that I thought 'oh God, the anti-brigade will be up in arms about this'. Especially after he'd been really quite sweet and humble with Claudia, saying he was happy to go because he didn't want other people to leave.

He's also a fairly private person, if his stint on Wife Swap is anything to go by, and may well not have felt comfortable being all gushy towards Ola on camera.

I'll reserve judgement on him until I've seen what he has to say on ITT (assuming he appears). I suspect that will be his moment to thank Ola properly.

It may have been a joke to you , But to me it was tasteless , I did see his wife and it makes it no less tasteless .
Fair enough.

I assume you also have a similarly-low opinion of Dr Pamela Stephenson-Conolly's public perving about James?

He didn't have to be 'gushy', all that was necessary for common courtesy was a simple 'thank you'. I do hope he thanks Ola properly tonight, I'll be rather annoyed if he doesn't.

Cool, consistency is good.

Huh, funny there are no "Pammie The Perv" threads around.

Why, it's almost like people are applying double standards.

I wish! No, he'll be taking me for runs. I'm gonna lose weight or die in the attempt, which given the speed and stamina of Collies is a distinct possibility.

Now if you'd come round to my place to put the cat outside our door, both pets could get a bit of healthy exercise together while we enjoy a nice cup of tea and a chat about Strictly.

(Why is there no "little devil" smiley on the list?)

Of course that's true, although I'd argue he belongs to the race of people who simply don't like having to admit to having any feelings of gratitude at all in public, even when it's appropriate. (I'm a bit like that so I see where he's coming from).

I felt he should have thanked her but maybe seeing as the results show is actually filmed after the live show - he was still referncing Craigs comments. He was an odd one in general- not as cringworthy as I thought - in fact a bit sad the way he was referencing his "glory days". Debbie McGee must have a lot of patience or be impervious... A propos nothing- he had a one man show at the Edinburgh Festival a while back. My folks saw him in town trying to park a huge car in a tiny space. Fair play to him , he managed it, My dad said "and thats magic" which they thought was hilarious. However Paul gave them a grumpy look as he must have thought they had been laughing- which just made it even funnier.
That patience might be explained by the question that Mrs Merton once asked Debbie McGee "So, what first attracted you to the millionaire Paul Daniels?"
