Well I couldn't stand him as a magician but haven't found him at all bad whilst on strictly. He seemed to know he wasn't any good (although not as bad as some others have been considering his age) and has been less irritating. I don't think he meant anything by what he said other than he thought he was being funny and I don't think Ola or James gave it a second thought. I mean James is forever flirting isn't he? It just goes with the territory.

Exactly, did anyone comment on the training film where James asked Pamela to put her hands on his bum , then when she did she asked was it part of the dance and he replied "no I just wanted you to put your hands on my bum".

The point made was not just Pauls remark but that he also failed to Thank Ola or acknowledge her work and input .

How do you know he did not thank her whilst they were dancing the last dance or after that ? we heard a joke onscreen not what happened afterwards.

And the point you made was mainly about his "tasteless lecherous" remark as you put it, what do you feel about James getting Paemla to hold his buttocks on camera for a joke ?

I commented on what I saw on the teli , not speculate on what may have been .
Actually I think the timing of both incidences was very different .One was an off the cuff remark said in the moment .The other a remark to a question if he had anything to say to Ola, said at the time of his departure and wher ehe could have had a little something prepared to say .

Fair enough.

I assume you also have a similarly-low opinion of Dr Pamela Stephenson-Conolly's public perving about James?
Good point. There seems to be a lot of sexism going on here. You could also add Felicity Kendal, another old biddy who appears to think she is "sex on legs".
I have nothing against any of them, it's all a bit of fun..but if people are going to criticise, at least be even-handed about it.

Yeah - I don't think Felicity's behaved badly. Neither has Peter for that matter - he's clearly a real gent.

That said, I thought Paul was a bit rubbish on ITT today - I don't even remember him thanking Ola in his 30-second "speech" segment.

I just think it was supposed to be a joke & a dig at Craig but it went completely wrong, because he had not realised the inappropriateness of it.
I was more incensed for his wife tbh & then started to realise the implications for Ola. Lbh Debbie is a spring chicken compared to him & a lot better than he deserves (after watching Celebrity Wife Swap). No matter what anyone thinks I felt after watching that she genuinely does love him, or she would have buggared off by now with half the loot.
It was an insult to Debbie & an insult to Ola imo. If my hubby had said something similar in front of how many million viewers? I would have been mortified & find it hard to forgive .

He didn't - that's two opportunities gone and he hasn't thanked her at all publically, and it doesn't take a lot. I did hear a radio interview with him today where he said Ola and James were both lovely people - but this was after he said Erin was far and away the best of the pros, the interviewer had to ask him what he thought of Ola!

Thank goodness I'm not at home at the minute!

Yeah, it's poor form. I had some sympathy for him, actually - but less so, now.

I hate the way Tess forces the celeb to make a gushy speech people say thank you in all different ways and there is nothing more than being forced in an unnatural way to do it.

I have no doubt that Paul has thanked Ola in his own way

And just because is wasn't on screen lots of people come on here giving him a good slagging off.

I think he came across well, Didn't think he was better than he was tried hard, what more do you want.

I'm not a fan of Paul Daniels - as he's really annoying a lot of the time. But I thought it was quite sweet on ITT last night when Ola was explaining the gruesome "pepper pot" thing and she said she choreographed it that way because Paul was very aware of how inappropriate it looks for an older married man to be dancing with a much younger married woman and doing a "sexy" rumba.

I just think he's old fashioned - what's wrong with that? And perhaps some of the celebs are struggling with the sexed-up version of SCD this series.

I heard that on ITT and it made me wonder if he had that notion and realized that an older man and younger woman could come across in the wrong way , why did he then go on to make a remark like he did ? Saying his wife was away and would Ola like to come over could alos be seen in the wrong way then ?

Oh well whats done is done and people will see it as they see it .I know how I saw it and so it is in my opinion .

Maybe he has, maybe he hasn't.

All we know is that he's not done so publically, despite being handed two opportunities to do so.

And just because is wasn't on screen lots of people come on here giving him a good slagging off.
Firstly, you're assuming there was a thank-you, without anything like evidence. You're then basing your opinion of our behaviour on your own unfounded assumption.

You don't see the slight problem in your logic chain?

Secondly, this is not a good slagging off. This is mild disapproval / disappointment.

But I can graduate to a good slagging off if you'd like.

I think he came across well, Didn't think he was better than he was tried hard, what more do you want.
I agree - he competed, he tried, he played by the rules. I'm just a bit disappointed that he didn't have much of a follow-up, or that he didn't publically thank his partner.

That's fine - and I think he did OK with the rumba, all things considered.

I also think the judges were harsh on him in both marks and comments.

All that was needed was a simple thank-you to Ola, no long gushing speech! I bit less "me me" and more good manners. I don't think he has helped his case with all the comments he has been making about Craig R.H as reported here on D.S. Comes across as sour grapes!

Ah , Yes I gathered that .A bit judgmental of you to lump us all in one pot and presume we all are the same . You are entitled to see Pauls remark as a joke , I dont judge you for that ,I respect your right to see it so .
As I am entitled to see it otherwise . As many posters have said a simple kind word would have been nice from Paul .But there you go , we all differ in our manners as well as opinions I guess .
