Ola
Ignazio
17-10-2010
Now we have Tess pronouncing Ola's name incorrectly - she did so several times tonight.

Just what does it take to drum into Tess and Brucie the correct pronunciation:

Ola rhymes with Collar - get it!

Not really that difficult is it?

I must admit, it took me a couple of series to learn the proper pronunciation of Ola's name!

If only all three letter names were as easy to pronounce as mine

Tess hasn't pronounced Ola's name correctly since series 5, neither has Bruce, but it was particularly noticeable tonight seeing as Claudia pronounces it properly!

The funny thing is though, on the voting recorded message Tess did pronounce her name correctly!

OK - I'll forgive you.

But it's now high time Bruce and Tess got the hang of it - perhaps they should repeat daily:
Ola rhymes with Collar, Dollar, Holla.

You did a little pun without realising it x

Collar has an "r" on the end of it, which makes it "coll-ER" and Ola doesn't... Bit confused!

Ola rhymes with "holla". Crap example but I can't think of anything else!

To be fair, Tess is never going to get to grips with the foreign lingo.

She's still seriously struggling with 'kupples' after eight series.

Nothing wrong with 'kupples' as pronounced by Tess - it's the dialect of her roots.

Bet your own dialect betrays your beginnings.

She can't pronounce choreography either.

Her name is actually 'Aleksandra'. Ola is a nickname so I don't have too many problems with their pronunciation.

As its a nickname it can be Ola as in owe-la or ollar or indeed however Ola chooses it .,

However the correct pronunciation if we wish to be precise of Ola ( Poland and other Eastern European countries) is actually Owe-lee-ah.

Ha!

I hope that proves an end to this weary argument. I'm getting sick of seeing it trotted out year in, year out.

True, but Ola still has the right to have her nickname pronounced how she chooses, which is how she, James and Claudia, among others, pronounce it, not how Tess says it.

Apologies if I upset your delicate sensitivity.

It is not. I think it's fair to assume Ola and James are aware of the correct pronunciation - I'm prepared to accept that they know best.

Ha! again.

I'm not the one complaining and come on Ignazio, you must admit this is a well worn topic now. Can we not have just one Ola/Ollar free year? (well, obviously not this year ).

I won't argue with that - which is why I wonder how Tess and Bruce are still getting it wrong

For Pete's (or Ola's) sake, kids learn by repetition - just how long do this pair need to get it right.

Do you think Claudia might mention it if someone emailed or texted ITT.

I was actually going to suggest you email Claudia. Will make a change from hearing from Sid1979 every bloody show

(Just kidding Sid, honest).

Edit: What if Claudia pronounced your name incorrectly though It's the sort of thing she would do for a hoot.

Sorry but it is, my receptionist on duty is Ola pronounced Owe-lee-ah.

Ola Jordan has chosen the way her name is pronounced which she like anyone has every right to do, just as I said in my post as her Ola is a nickname , what I said was Ola in Poland etc as a name is correctly pronounced Oweleeah, and that is correct you will find.

She probably would.

I think Claudia keeps mentioning Sid 'cos she's after a smooch.

But you must admit you have an unusual way of spelling your name. I've seen Said, Saeed and even Sayeed, but not Sid.
