Aiden Presley
I found Aiden very Elvissy in the initail stage audition. Not just his hair but his (slightly contrived) sneer and his spasmodic Presleyesque Jerky movements. Has anyone else picked up on this.

Earlier today it came to me that Ache-in reminded me of Edward Scissorhands but I've just had an epiphany......
http://deptofpublicsubversion.com/pyle015ij.jpg He IS Private Pyle from Full Metal Jacket. |

I thought he was a bit Elvisique early on. Actually even the way he gets so into his songs reminds me of him too as Elvis could do that as well.

![]() Although he might be trying to copy early John Lennon with the quiff. He's one of his heroes afterall. |

I think Aiden has a good voice but to compare him to Elvis is ridiculous. Right from his earliest performances Elvis was a natural mover and not at all awkward like Aiden appears to be. You could see that Elvis really enjoyed performing.

Aiden is one of my favourites. Quirky and interesting.
He does have a "young Cliff Richard" look about him. |

I'm sad to hear that myoclonic jerks during daylight hours is his "thing". Really if that is what is to be served every week, I'm afraid I find it too difficult to watch.
That it was so over played this week that it completely screwed up his vocal should be saying to them, less is more. |

First time I saw him, he looked like a young Elvis
Didnt sound like him though I really liked him at first but those awful song choices are ridiculous, Jealous Guy for a young current young man is dire. Danii should be chuckd off the X factor for that, she nearly got him voted off. Lets give him something current. |

Amusing how some posters would have any spark of difference or non conformity stamped out, isnt it?!
Actually Aiden is following a tradition of 50's rockers in both his looks and movements to some extent, although he has put his own stance onto it . They would 'sneer' or contort their face when singing, Elvis did this and to some extent so did one of the UK's answer to Elvis, Cliff Richard who deliberately copied him in his very early career. However there's been a more recent trend for this in 90s indie ravers- more especially in the US, and other examples are scattered through rock such as already mentioned Ian Curtis's jerky style, which some have suggested was related to his epilepsy. Whether Aidens is a result of nerves, some internal condition, a conscious imitation of the above rockers or purely his way of getting into the music better is hard to tell but it is true it gives a distinctive style. Some like it, some find it odd but it is hard not to argue that it is fairly distinctive in today's generally bland subcultural youth styles. |
