Both were deluded and thought they were a lot better than they are. Both have similar gormless expressions on their faces when they dance as well!

No way. I think he's a lot more humble than Craig, and works a damn sight harder.

You could see Peter correcting himself during the dance when his hands were in the wrong position. Craig would never have done that.

No, I don't think Peter is under any illusions at all. I imagine he was surprised at being in the bottom 2 last week as there were others who were much worse than him. Craig was the most deluded contestant I've ever seen.

If anybody was to go down that route this series I'd put my bet on Gavin.

Definately not and I wouldn't even say Gavin is anything like him either. As much as Gavin is a muppet at times, he does try and its obvious that latin isn't his or Peter's thing. They are both far better at ballroom that Craig ever was.

Shame as before last years show I really liked Craig but went off him at a fast rate of knots.

I wish Peter would stop reminding us that he's never danced before - the same applies to most of the contestants.

I thought he might come across similar to that other gentle giant Peter Schmeichl - but no; he lacks the charm and humility of Schmeichl.

I have no other comment to make except the fact that I love the word gormless .! It says so much in just 8 letters.

Have to disagree with the OP, He may come across as a bit slow, and that's possibly down to his Oooo arrrr west country accent.
IMO Peter is an honest tryer, with a good attitude at wanting to learn more and improve on his dancing. You can tell Erin knows this and appreciates his workrate in the studio. Sure he's never going to win it, but his attitude is spot on. The total opposite to that revolting little slug of a man Paul Daniels.

Leicestershire, trunkster, Leicestershire.

Of the oversized sportsmen we've had though, Shilts has more grip on reality than Kenny Logan and (slightly) more personality than Joe Calzaghe, but would be no match for Peter Schmeichel.

I felt sorry for Craig last year. Poor man probably did SCD to boost his acting career and it must have had the opposite effect. He seemed blissfully unaware of just how bad an impression he was making - both with his dancing and his personality. I'm sure Craig thought he could win whereas I don't think Peter Shilton is so deluded.

Peter gives me the impression that he knows he's not the best dancer but thinks he can give it more and would like the chance to keep on trying for a while at least. And probably also would like reassurance that he's popular enough to keep getting votes for a little longer. It must be awful to be in the bottom 2 in week one when you know you're not the worst dancer.

I like the new idea of allowing everyone to do 2 dances before someone is voted off. At least the first to go has had a better chance to prove themselves. Sometimes by the time the competition gets to the later stages I've forgotten the one voted off first was even participating!

Peter is nothing like Craig

Peter has obviously been listening to the judges and Erin because I thought he was vastly improved this week!

Craig never listened to anyone cos he thought he was great already!

I still laugh when I remember poor Flavia's face as she sat listening to Craigs delusiuonal talk on ITT. Priceless.

Peter is not in the same delusional league. I do think he thinks he is slightly better than he is but as he improved greatly in the quickstep maybe he is right. And he obviously listens to Erin (though I dread to think what would happen to anyone who didn't listen to Erin )

Craig was completely deluded - even Flavia didn't try to pretend he was any good. But someone must have liked him or he wouldn't have stayed in so long.

I'm not keen on Peter, but I do think he made some improvement this week with the quickstep, and if he could just learn to stand up and hold his own weight better, he would improve even more. However, if he has the charlestone next Saturday it could be back to square 1!

I would put both Michelle and Jimi as being much closer to how Craig was than Peter. They both seem to have trouble handling criticism from the judges. Peter's problem seems to be more with the public - I think he expected more support from them, citing the fact that he tried really hard and has no prior experience. He's not the best at taking criticism from the judges, but I don't think he thinks he's better than he is.

1. Peter doesn't talk back to the judges the way Craig did.

2. Peter does not have a look of complete bewilderment on his face when he hears what the judges have to say!

I have to say Jimi reminded me a bit of Craig on Saturday.....odd that he too is 'dancing' with Flavia!

Worryingly, he reminded me of him as well Saturday, some very odd dancing, and I really want to like Jimi.

Peter, although not a favourite of mine, is nothing like Craig, he's working hard and his ballroom had definately improved

O gosh I'll never forget Craig!!!! sooooooooooo funny! The looks on Flavia's face when he was talking about how good he was!!! I think she must have been over the moon when he got kicked out! Her and Jimi make a good match. No I don't think Peter is as bad, he is quite realistic, just optimistic.

I completely disagree with you.

I love Peter and I think he tries really hard, and when the judges critisise him, he takes it all in and then goes away and tries harder.

He isn't like Craig Kelly, Craig always looked very confused regarding the judges comments and be thinking 'What? You must be joking? I thought it was great?!'
Peter isn't like that at all.

I wish him and Erin the best of luck

Not the same at all!

Peter seems determined to improve, knowing his liitations and accepting them, and has been said in this thread, you could see him correcting mistakes as the dance developed.

We all know what Craig was like - utterly unable to accept any failings, unable to correct himself, too deep in denial.

Peter is turning out to be another Bill Turnball and I for one welcome it!

I think it's mainly to do with Erin telling him how brilliant he is, even though he clearly isn't

He's been dancing for about a month after 40-odd years, is that suprising?

I've never heard her say he's brilliant! Erin is supportive and encouraging but please she's not delusional .
