What is the role of the professional dance troupe?
*stargazer*

I'm confused. I thought the whole idea of the professional dance troupe was to give the competing pros more time with their celebrities. Yet on Sunday, Flavia and Vincent (and probably a few of the other males) did at least two show dances. The professional troupe was nowhere to be seen.

Was this just a ruse to soften the blow of pros like Ian Waite being sidelined? Surely if they have them they should use them and give the competing pros maximum time with their celebs?

Well, Ian gets a starring role next week, with Brendan out.

I don't think the BBC have made a statement at all about the purpose of the dance troupe - and there are a lot of shows to come, so it might be worth waiting to see how things pan out...

It did seem strange that the pro dance troupe never got a look-in,whereas we had almost the same pro's dancing twice. Not really fair on the pro's who weren't featured too,
far too much Flavia,Vincent & James.

The dance troupe were only ever contracted for certain shows anyway. The list was printed somewhere on the main thread page even yesterday but I can't remember exactly where.... (probably in one of the like titled threads like this if someone wants to go looking).

Apparently Flavia and four male dancers performed 'Tango Unleashed' on Friday night for a special 3D film to promote Children In Need. That sounds like the routine we saw yesterday. So I would imagine we were either watching a recording of that slotted into what is a heavily edited show, or they just performed it again because it was already well rehearsed. So I guess that performance came for 'free' as it were. Still could have used the troupe for the other dance of course.

I would much rather have watched a classy routine by Ian & co than watch Peter Andre miming

The troupe are only performing in six of the results shows

Damn shame and a complete waste of Darren and Ian, two fantastic professional dancers

The dance with the belts on Flavia was really embarrassing. It looked like some sort of sex harness and was just tacky and tasteless. I'm not sure it's suitable Sunday tea time viewing. Sorry if that sounds a bit prudish - but it would be nice just to see some beautiful group dances rather than something out of a lap dancing club.

You prude! And why don't you have Sunday tea at the same time as everyone else?

Yes I like it all to be old fashioned and in the very best taste And as for Sunday tea - doesn't everyone have muffins at 7pm in front of a roaring open fire?

I don't think it was Len's cup of tea either - did you see his expression afterwards

The only reason I would watch the utterly dire Results Show is because the excellent Ian and Darren were dancing.

Now it seems they aren't going to be on most weeks, I won't have to sit through another 30 minutes of absolute rubbish.
