I thought it was bloody hilarious, but I did have to pity Tess ~ she looked so helpless afterwards!

As a Lancastrian myself, she sounds pretty natuaral to me.

I don't like the way that 'Northen' is used to describe accents - like in Coronation Street they think we won't notice the Yorkshire accents in there - as longs as it's 'Northern' no-one will know. We do know, thankyou, Corrie producers, we can tell a Yorkshire from a Lancashire accent.

So, what IS the correct pronunciation of Ola's name?

I heard it, and yes it was rude. But, it makes a refreshing change from all the 'I'm loving it oh-so much, I don't want to leave/I'm just having the absolutely BESTEST time ever, it means SOOOOOO much to me'... ad-nauseam.

The problem is with Tess, as has already been mentioned, she can't think on her feet. This is an important ability on a live show. Brucie gets slated a lot and is obviously a lot slower now, but he was brilliant when the Ramprakash microphone incident occurred. I can't imagine what Tess would have done.

She gets paid an absurd amount of money for a couple of evenings' work, and she's crap. So there's not much reason to.

Me too but I think that always happened.
The difference this time is there's more space and a moving camera (if not cameraman) in amongst them all instead of a fixed camera and autocue against a wall.
It makes you feel part of the experience instead of an outsider looking in - much better.

Moany Lisa,

Ola's name is pronounced with both vowels short, as in scholar, they both tend to lengthen the 'O' (slow when it should be slot)

We don't know that for sure and even if it is true, the only way she will learn is by experience (imho). I am a fan of Bruce btw and not trying to get rid of him, but that skill is rare.

I never find rudeness refreshing.

Thanks for that. I thought that was the correct way to pronounce it. It is actually a bit ignorant not to pronounce her name correctly and this should have been pointed out and corrected.
