I think I might be in the minority here, but I prefer more modern music. I didn't watch the first series and only got interested during the second series (I think it was Jill Halfpenny's jive). The idea of ballroom dancing left me cold, but I was so impressed that it was being danced to modern music. I also like traditional music, so I'm glad there is both, but I don't think I would enjoy it as much if we didn't have some modern music in there too. It was a moment of enlightenment when I discovered ballroom dancing could be danced to a wide variety of music (in contrast to the one time my Nan took me to her ballroom dancing class when I was about 10 years old). Being able to see the dances to modern music was very definitely was a big part of what got me hooked on SCD.
Also, from my childhood memories of Come Dancing I thought of Latin dancing as being something done by very scantily clad fake tanned women who always looked hard-faced, yet I generally prefer the Latin now.
