The comments they receive do not bare the slightest resemblance to their actual performances. The backing track is so loud you can barely hear any of them during the chorus on any of their tracks. They do not look like a group as they all have bizarrely different facial expressions during songs, and some dance like a dad at a wedding, whilst others stand pretty still. A few of them have decent voices, but they have struggled to stay in time with the music and they generally look out of their depth.

It's all geared towards them being being the next big british teen heartthrobs. Simon clearly thinks that there's a massive unexpoited market for our version fo Bieber/Jonas brothers etc. It will be so boring if they manageto win though. They didn't even join the comeptition as an act. They took the place of genuine groups. The show is more and more manipulated each year, with this and the pre recorded group tracks, autotune - gate and whatnot. No wonder people want Wagner to do well with all of this nonsense going on.

They won't last anyway. Liam is determined to be a solo hearthrob, but Harry seems to be getting all the attention it wont end well. The others are nothing more then harmonies which wont go on forever.

I disagree with you about them not looking like a group. I think they look together and I quite like them. But I don't think you need to worry, I doubt they will win.

They DO look like a group, however they were 5 solo acts, if they had intentions of being a band, they would have audtioned in groups. Liam in particular, 2 years solo.

I am surprised their odds as so high. OK so all the young girls like them but that hardly covers the whole spectrum of viewers. I think Mary and Matt have more widespread appeal and possibly Rebecca and Aiden too. I think Cher also has a young cult following but does that transfer to the whole spectrum of voters

I don't think Cher has wide enough appeal to win it, she will stay in it for a while though.

Widespread appeal I think would got to Matt and Rebecca, and maybe Mary...

Oh and more on topic, I quite like the energy of One Direction but if JLS didn't win it (head and shoulders the best band ever on the X-Factor), then I can't see One Direction winning it.

Hopefully Louis, Zain, Harry and Niall will all accidentally tragically be eaten by a hippopotamus, and Liam will be able to continue as a soloist. That's the only way One Direction will win.

I quite like 1 direction but if JLS weren't able to win it despite being absolutely fantastic and being friends beforehand, I hightly doubt 1 direction will as they're not quite in JLS's league yet

They're plausible front runners, which might be their purpose in Simon's scheme...

1 Direction won't win, but they'll probably have a fair amount of success after the show and I think they'll be in the final. I don't mind 1 Direction though, I don't think they are as good as the judges are hyping them up to be, but I don't think they are as bad as some on DS are making out they are, and I do think they have the potential to improve.

The over-the-top hype could easily backfire. The public aren't stupid and we've seen it happen before. It didn't matter how many times Simon said that Hope was the best band to ever appear on the X Factor. Everyone could still see they were shite and only held up by one decent singer. Cue the continual place in the bottom two and eventually even Simon had to give up on them.

I'd say the same could happen to 1 Direction (and Cher, too). They over-hype them again and again and eventually people just get fed up of it - because it becomes so blatently obvious Simon is trying to force the vote to go his way.

I tnink they are awful and really cannot understand the judges coments ech week. They all look out of place especially Liam who has absolutely no charisma atall. I agree with the OP
There are now the only two groups left who were put together by the powers that be.

I bet the real groups are fuming

I don't think that One Direction will win. *she says while crossing fingers* They're ok, but just that. They certainly don't gel as a group, and it seems obvious to me that at least two of them would rather be soloists.

As others have said already, people get fed up of having it pushed down our throats how great an act are when most of the time it's quite clear they're anything but.

They probably have the biggest fan base at the moment, because of the teeny votes... but once number of people goes down in the competition, sanity will kick in and the general voting public will crush these insects and vote for someone good...

One Direction are as cute as puppies but they are not even good yet as a group. Win? I hope not, Wagner might win if they can win
