Purparane, purparane....

did anyone else end up hearing purparane on saturday instead of purple rain?

I've just posted in another thread that this was what Ruth did, only more obviously so, saying perpa rain over and over.

The best squandered lyric was Shayne, when he did Careless Whisper - 'tonight the moo sick seems so loud......' Poor cows, hope they were given some Rennies.

I don't wanna sound like a geek, but I studied linguistics at university and the transition from the lateral 'l' sound in purple, to the rhotic 'r' is bound to cause some assimiliation to the vowel.

In other words...it's natural

Ruth did the same, purarane...only i think hers seemed even more pronounced cos of her accent
