Makes it all the more remarkable she is getting such a great response each week.Apparently some acts have dozens of supporters, especially the two remaining groups.

Might be something to do with the fact that they have to come from overseas.

Well, she is from Ireland - it might not be that easy to fly over all the time.

None came from Ireland in fact : her three friends are living in London.

Ireland is only an hour away, it's not outer mongolia

her daughter has a chronic fear of flying though

Yes, but it would still get pretty expensive (& time-consuming) if you were coming over on a weekly basis.

Maybe that's still the reason - considering the only friends who were able to come are already from London.

Jedward had the same problem last year : only their parents were in the audience every week (and there was nobody to counteract the booing by the yobs).

Well there's 5 One Dimensions and four Beel Amie's, even if they brought three each that's a lot of supporters compared to Mary. Good for her for getting such a reception then.

I hope her daughter comes over on the ferry one week, she really should experience it given her mum is so well liked.

well a train ticket from newcastle to london could be more expensive than say a ryanair flight from Dublin I would imagine so the british acts family and friends would be payng around the same as Mary's crowd

She is, so she has to take the boat and train.

Yes and she refuses point blank to fly : only option for her will be the ferry and then train to London.

maybe not everyone can afford to travel every week maybe her family couldnt get time off to come over, maybe they dont have passports (i dont have one and never have) we dont know their circumstances and it shouldnt matter. it just goes to show how talented people think she is if thats the response she gets every week either that or she has the loudest three mates in the world lol

Yes, it says a lot for Mary.

I'd say that she's getting a great response because she's a great singer, and seems to be a warm and genuine human being.

I think some people who have responded don't seem to realise that there really are some who can't afford to take time off work, or to shoot over to England every week.

The point I was making is that she's getting a great response from a room full of strangers, not "poor Mary has no support".

Not with Ryanair if you booked online with their house credit card, came with only the clothes you stood up in, didn't have priority booking, stood all the way in the plane's aisle, didn't have a drink or one of their lovely boxed 'meals', and then once you'd landed, hitched from Newcastle or wherever Ryanair's 'London' airport is located. That wouldn't cost much at all. Except for the taxes. And it's a 25 minutes turnaround so not time consuming except for the journey to the 'local' airports Ryanair uses.

So there's no excuse. But they can hear her anyway from Dublin, she's got a big voice.

Exactly. Also must be pretty expensive as well to travel all the way from Ireland to London every weekend.

On second thoughts - you are so right. Those selfish cads, not wanting to devote their weekends & paychecks to supporting Tesco Mary.
