Does ITV not know how to set up CRIDs?
JeffG1

I have a major annoyance at the moment. I set the new Midsomer Murders (normally on Weds evenings, I think - though football this week) to series record since it clashes with BBC stuff I want to watch and I kept missing it.

It's not available on ITV player for some reason, so that's not an option (even though I would only ever use ITV player in an "emergency").

However, they have assigned the same CRID to the new transmissions as they have to the daily afternoon repeats.

Consequently, I was getting a load of recordings I didn't want, and ended up cancelling the series record.

Do ITV really not have the nous to set separate CRIDS for what are in fact totally different programme series?

Can't check at the moment because it's not on tonight. However the repeat should have the same series crid and the same programme crid as the first transmission.

A freesat+ box should ignore the repeat because it has the same programme crid as the one it's just recorded.

No - you've misunderstood (or maybe I should have explained it better).

The afternoon repeats are not repeats of the current (new) series - they are repeats of MM's from ages ago.

Yes it's annoying isn't it? Same on Sky.

I missed last Wednesday's new episode as a result. Had to get it by alternative means.

Depends what you mean by a 'screw up' - I suspect it's doing exactly what ITV want it to, so it's not a 'screw up' but a deliberate pain in the bum!.

It's been like this for years now, and means you can't series link new series.

Five dont know how to do it either, the weekend repeats of programs end up getting recorded too.

What is the logic behind ITV doing that?

If it was available on ITV player it wouldn't be so bad - although as I indicated earlier, I hate having to use that simply because you have to sit through the ads, plus not being available on Freesat or Sony Home Cinema (like iPLayer), I have to watch it on my PC.

I've no idea, but it's always been that way.

A previous one that I missed because of it, I watched on ITV Player a few days later.

Luckily for me, my laptop has an HDMI output, so I can watch an HD download on the TV.

Just to prove it to myself, I did a search on ITV Player for "midsomer murders" which came up with the following:

"midsomer murders" (5 results found):

The Xtra Factor
Downton Abbey
The Only Way Is Essex (twice!!)
Coronation Street

I don't think much of their search facility!

I didn't appear until a few days afterwards - I thought it wasn't coming on as well.

Well, it's a week after and it's not there - nor are the previous episodes.
