Freesat Humax HDR will not...
always come on when I press the 'on' button, sometimes it takes 10 minutes of pressing to get it to start!!
Sometimes It seems to be in standby mode only, and it is very difficult to start when recording? Only 2 weeks old from Amazon, should I make a claim on my c/ card or is there something I'm not doing correctly Please help

You did take of the protective film from both sides on the display cover ?
This is known to cause problems in registering remote clicks. |

When recording, I've found that the box doesn't seem to always boot. I think it's an HDMI connection issue. By going into the TV settings and selecting different HDMI connected devices then back again seems to resolve the issue

Well I didn't find any film on the inside. Is it on the movable flap (small plastic window) or on the body of the box inside?
(Maybe I found it before and removed it )

(Maybe I found it before and removed it )It's not on the flap it's on the display under the flap (the body of the box) and it's damn near invisible

Well, gor blimey, strike a light, guv, who'd a thought it?
Found it and peeled it off. If anyone else hasn't found it yet, it goes from the left of the small buttons on the left to just to the right of the small window. |

You nearly need an electron microscope to spot it
![]() I've used a harmony 885 remote since a few days after installing the box, and this vastly reduced the problem of the box not receiving remote commands, but it is still not perfect. Hopefully if I find and remove this film, it will be better still. |

Curiously, to dim the eyeball-scorching display and light I put a folded piece of translucent blue plastic (cut from a slip folder) behind the flap and do not have a problem with it responding to the remote control.

Try pressing zero twice on the remote instead of the power button. You are not treying to boot from a full power off condition are you ?
![]() I always turn on the tv with the old remote first, and then I press the 'on' button and the light goes from red to boot and then it comes on, the red light is always on when it's switched off at the remote. Often the unit will boot up but no picture? The unit is never switched off at the plug. Oh, and I've just taken the film off the front/back of the drop down front Thank you

The whole front panel folds downwards, it's retained by magnets at either end.
I hope that will help? |

Does it boot up ok when you press the on/standby button on the actual unit, rather than the remote?

This is something to do with "handshaking". Are you connecting via an HDMI lead? I have the same problem with my Humax Foxsat and Sony TV.

Unit has been working since I first posted on here (think I got it worried) however before that it was booting up but no picture 50% of the time. I would rather not send it back to Amazon as I will not get a refund for 3+weeks, and they could argue there is no fault! and would just end up sending me my unit back. I was wondering if it would be better to claim the cash back on my credit card ? But I'm hoping the unit is ok now?

^^^ Also, going along the lines mentioned by Brumlad, try plugging the HDMI lead to a different port on the TV. Often the number one port has auto switching and it's been noted previously that Panny TVs often stumble on this since a firmware update last year I believe. My own panny suffered this and now use the HDMI 2 port.

As I said in my previous post, switch on (or bring out of stand-by) the Humax before you switch on/over the TV. The problem you're reporting is common to HDMI connections. It's unlikely to be anything wrong with your lead either.
