You can change the codes in the remote independently of the codes in the set top box. All you need to do is go through the actions as you would to change the codes for both, just move into another room so that the STB doesn't see the infra red transmitted by the remote. Knowing when to press the buttons is indicated by the flashing PVR button.
Oh Thanks, if that is true I'll order another remote control, I gave the 3rd one to my O/H as thought maybe I could only have one control per box if I changed the the channel No.

UPDATE

Unit now switches on ok.

BUT, when it's recording if I switch it on it will not switch on the picture.

The channel I want to watch comes up in the display window but it's just a blank screen?

anyone
I found this happened to me. Now I switch on the Humax first and then switch on the Panny and always get a picture.

Yes that is the button, the HDR has come out of standby and is recording so thinks it does not need to tell the Panny to look at the input from HDMI1. You press the power button on the HDR remote to tell it you want to watch a tv program. The Panny has been turned on with no input from HDMI1 so it ignors the signal from the HDR.
You see HDMI1 selected when you press AV once but you have to select another input then change back to HDMI1 before it will look again for a signal. I have owned a HDR and a Panny plasma for 2 years and this happens everytime we return home and the HDR is recording, but it is so simple to cure that I do not regard it as a problem.

Yes that worked, thank god for that!

many thanks for your help

UPDATE

Well I'm starting to have difficulty switching on and showing a picture again when recording.

I press the 'AV' button but the menue does not always come up and when it does I put it on MDMi1 and press ok and nothing happens

It does take a lot of pressing the 'ON' button before it will show a picture

When I have this issue I select HDMI2 first and then I select HDMI1

No matter what I do, when the unit is recording (or about to), I cannot get a picture on the tv, despite trying the different order of tv on first or Humax on first. I know its post Xmas and hope the answer is not already lurking somewhere!
