I just received an email from O2 and I must say it qualifies as the most pointless email I've EVER received.

I mean. . .why did they even bother lol

I don't see why you think that's pointless. It tells you they've done your tariff review. If they didn't send it you wouldn't know whether they had done it, on time, or not.

However, as well as the point I raised above. How do they know that you are aware that you are on the most appropriate tariff?

A pointless email would be something like:

'this is an empty email'

I get enough rubbish in my in-box without o2 adding to it with pointless emails such as this. If they thought I was on the wrong tariff then I could understand them suggesting I should move to a different one, but this email was just a waste of bandwith.

I'm on a £37.50 contract that has unlimited web, and unlimited texts.

There most definitely IS a less expensive tariff than that , that would do me - but they funnily enough, recommend it to me

Hence it being pointless - If I'm on the "right tariff" then why tell me?

Tell me if you can recommend something better, sure, but if not , then why would you bother?

Exactly, if you didn't receive the email, how would you know whether they had done the account review.

I have been with o2 for many years and never received a nonsensical email like this before. I do my own account review periodically (which also involves looking at the other operators' tariffs). I don't need o2 to do it for me. Think I will just put that particular o2 address into my block list.

So are you saying they shouldn't do a review to make sure you are on the best plan?

Personally I have no interest whatsoever in o2 reviewing my tariff, I am more than capable of doing that myself. At least when I do it I can compare o2 tariffs with the other companies to see which offer the best value. O2 certainly wouldn't do that for me.

Haha I got the same. Funny thing is I sent them a complaint email and spoke on the phone to them about their awful tarriffs and terrible customer service. I've cancelled my contract which ends in a week and said I'm going to Vodaphone. I know it's a blanket email they send out to people but for go sake! After verbal and written complaints about their awful pricing they send me that!

O2 also sent me a chocolate bar last weekend. I was shocked and had to tell my friends.

Which kind of makes the whole "review" process a joke. If o2 can review an account that has been dead for three years, how on earth can you trust any of its reviews?

I went to the post office box and picked up several months of mail re-directed from England... MMM a lovely Green and Blacks chocolate bar!
