So according to reports in the papers this week, Paul Daniels said that the public are bored by Craig and his put-downs of the celebrities on Strictly.

I've been running a poll on Twitter about who people's favourite Strictly Judge is (past or present) and Craig is well in the lead with 45% of the vote!

What do you think? Love him or loathe him!

Oh, and have your say in the poll! http://twtpoll.com/e7f2q2

I love him. He's my favourite judge.

I always find his scoring about right & he always gives couples something to work on.

PS You don't need to be on twitter to vote in the poll!

Craig is faaaabulous dahling. He's the only one that uses a range of scores and never, er, minces his words

Craig is the most consistent and honest judge by far. At least he doesn't patronize the contestants when knows they could do better. Can underscore, but to be honest I don't care about that, I care about the substance that Craig has and he has it in abundance. He was spot on about Matt this weekend, the 7 from Len was totally stupid. What we see from Craig isn't the cynisism we get from Len. Who knows maybe Craig for head judge in the future? nice if is the case.

I love Craig, he's always got a reason for his scores and is always able to explain them if asked. His relationship with Claudia on ITT is also really nice, I enjoy his contributions.

Craig's view the one I am most interested in.

I think Mr Daniels you may find the public are bored with you!

Craig's the only judge who still looks and sounds like he cares about the dancing part of the show.

He's the only essential judge - and I've said this for years, I can probably dig out forum posts from 2006 saying that same thing.

All that said, I think he wasn't on top form on Saturday for some reason.

Nooooo, he's my favourite! He's the one I tend to agree with.

Think you are getting confused, I reckon he was the best judge of the lot on Saturday. Only interested in him and him and myself are both capricorns of why we have similair viewpoints.

Think Craig is the most consistent, honest and unbiased judge there is and the show would be worse off without him. If a celebrity has danced well, he will say so; if they need to improve he tells them.

He is good if sometimes a little harsh - but head judge on a show about BALLROOM dancing - ooh no Missus!

He SOUNDS like he knows what he's talking about - but some of his utterances on ballroom technique are complete twaddle.

I am more bored with Paul Daniels .

He's alright. Generally I prefer Bruno, because he's wittier, funnier, is occasionally better at hitting the nail on the head (in effect telling Paul that it didn't matter that he did a comedy routine if it wasn't funny, which doesn't seem to have sunk into Paul's grumpy grapes), and talks more in generalities and visual cues that the contestants can understand and can carry forward to other dances.

Craig tends to focus on the specifics of the dance just done (often reeling off a list of technical names which the celeb clearly has no clue about just to show off) which the celeb is probably never going to do ever again. His scores are better, but the sheer weight of how impressed he is with himself can get tiring.

Scoring he's the best, think he hit it on the head yesterday on ITT when he said that they have panels from 1 - 10. I think all of them can come out with comments that are just nasty, and all can come out with good and bad points that will help the contestants. But at the end of the day Craig's marking is usually the marker in my opinion on were the dancers really are. I don't agree with it 100% of the time but sometimes when people say he undermarks its purely because the others don't like to mark under 5 half the time.

But I love him, he's my favourite judge.

In my opinion on that you are incorrect, besides ballroom technique doesn't interest me. I'm more a performance guy and person who admires new initatives. Put it this way the producers can put him as head judge, it's up to them with what happens to the judges. We have no control whatsoever, the powers that be do.

Well, it looks as if the ayes have it - on this forum as well as the poll. I'm not surprised. I love Craig. The producers and whoever writes Brucie's script try to paint Craig as the pantomime villain of the show, but his remarks and scores are honest, unpatronising, relevant and, most of all, correct.

Compare and contrast with that ghastly bloke, Jason thingy, on Dancing On Ice, whose poisoned barbs are deliberately chosen to cause offence. No contest.

Best judge in the show, darling! Who would rather listen to bland witterings (and over-marking) from another Alesha-type instead of him?

What exactly are you saying is incorrect??

While the show features celebrities learning ballroom dances, in most cases from scratch anyone who expects to see dazzling performances from the get go is going to be sorely disappointed. Most of them spend their early weeks simply learning how to WALK properly never mind dance.

Yes, the producers COULD put Craig as head judge, but then any credibility with the ballroom dance lovers will be totally lost. As I said above, his REAL knowledge of ballroom dances and the techniques is shaky, but he can talk the talk which convinces those who don't know a fleckerl from a lock step that he is an expert. That is why Len looks askance at him sometimes - because that look usually follows a load of twaddle from Craig

While the show still professes to be about ballroom dancing - the head judge does at least need to be qualified to comment properly on it (and I for one would rather see Craig there as the performance judge with Brunoo and Alesha being replaced with real ballroom dancers who have technical knowledge combined with personalities (like ... let me think.... Karen Hardy)

And I agree with Monkseal - he tosses out lots of technical terms which mean absolutely nothing to the celebrity being told them allwhich serve to show that HE thinks he knows it all.

Craig is the best imo. Noticeably he is the only judge who nearly always balances his comments with positive and negative and gives detailed feedback.

I think the public have in the past been bored with Craig's putdowns. I think he is a much more entertaining judge when he isnt trying to be nasty.

At the moment he is being a veritable pussy-cat, no wonder he is well ahead in your poll.
