Why invite 'scientists' onto the show?

A physicist, a chemistry teacher, and now a surgeon have all fallen by the wayside.

All told they don't have the necessary business skills.

Well obviously! Otherwise they'd be businesspeople!

Why put them on the show in the first place if they're going to be dismissed for not having the relevant background?

They have scientists and the suchlike on the show in order so Lordalan can get a massive thrill out of firing them cos of the massive chip he has on his shoulder about people with an education

There are many companies in the high tech industries with a scientist leading them. Another poster mentioned Sir Clive Sinclair, he more or less started the UK micro computer industry and was one of the first companies on the Cambridge Science Park. Acorn were another, they are now active in mobile chips. There are so many others.

Medical doctors are well placed to grow bio technology companies or those producing medical equipment.

This country has lost it's mass manafacturing base. It's going to be building companies from new technology or high quality workmanship that have a chance globally. Instead we, in particular politicians and media, concentrated more on the finance industry, a short term gamble which errrr.. proved to be a bit misplaced.

Sugar is a merchant. Buy something from wherever is cheapest and then sell elsewhere at a profit. Fine, but it's not the only type of business. He makes a lot of his British company employees, but the technical components are made in the far East, always have been.
