I understood a loss leader to be an item sold at no profit which encourages shoppers in where they then buy profitable items as well. Am I wrong?

Paloma: God's gift to businesses

No you are not wrong that is a loss leader except sold at a loss not just for no profit. My idea was to 'fool' the customer that this is a 'cheap' store to be able to sell them dearer goods. To offer the hotel cheap prices on everything except some with high profit margins and then only deliver the high profit ones.

Instead, Paloma started talking about her experience of Sandeesh on previous tasks, which was new to Shibby, as he'd always been on a different team.

It's not private if it's on camera. And it is relevant; the whole show is about evaluating the candidates. Paloma wasn't bitching, she was giving her evaluation to Shibby. She wanted to influence him.

Quote:
“If Paloma wants to express her opinion of Sandeesh then it's on her to do so, not for Shibby to start bringing up private bitching sessions.”

??? There's no rule that says Shibby can't ask for other opinions. Paloma didn't have to answer as she did.

Unfortunately I've come across many like her along the way. She will come a cropper before long though thankfully.

I just don't think he was asking a question outside of a rhetorical one to spark bitching. He was sneering an insult in a huff, at midnight in the back of a car on the way home, about another candidate after having had to deal with her moods and attitude for the last 5 hours, following a disastrous full day of work. Both Paloma and Laura (Paloma in particular) had complained about the attitude of the manufacturing team vociferously, so I doubt he was expecting them to suddenly leap to Sandeesh's defence.

I don't think it's relevant to bring up that sort of conversation in the boardroom. It's out-of-hours gossip, regardless of whether it was on camera or not. If Paloma wants to attack Sandeesh's attitude and past record in the Boardroom then that's on her. It's not for Shibby to share second-hand hearsay in the Boardroom. It's unprofessional and childish.

Sandeesh sat there looking like a frightened rabbit for most of it, and when she did speak sounded unconvincing. I thought she looked genuinely shocked to still be there at the end.

Shibby deserved to go, he dug himself into a hole in the boardroom and seemed happy to stay in it.

The two girls' cards were well marked by Lord Sugar, though, Sandeesh in particular. Looking forward to next week's task. ”

I'm as shallow as a gnat's grave myself, so skin deep beauty is fine with me

I didn't think Sandeesh looked frightened. When Shibby and Paloma were arguing over what Paloma had said about her, I think she looked positively amused!

Apart from all that has been said previously about Paloma, her blatant lies, setting others up for the fall, promising orders that they could not deliver, offering £150 compensation to the hotel customer, I think if you look back at the previous episode she is the one who labels Joanna difficult when footage does not back it up. She is already shaking her head and informing opinion against Joanna from an early stage. She was also the first to gossip about Sandeesh so she is a vicious cow who I can't wait to see fired.

She has fantastic makeup but I'd be terrified if I ever met her in real life.

This. Yes, I've found some very slick operators who can also deliver, but I'm suspicious of the salesperson who immediately gives me the answer they think I want to hear, without seeming to think it through, or checking whether they can deliver. And it can be so destructive, if they let you down, then you end up letting your customers down because of them.

Honesty is generally the best policy in business, lie only when you absolutely need to, and don't feel good about it.

Paloma didn't need to deny she'd been negative about Sandeesh; she could have admitted that but softened it, but she lied because lying is second nature to her, in my view.

and I tell you she ain't a liar!

Quite the opposite- terribly upfront. What you see is what you get.
watching the episode I am convinced she was tired and forgot about the quote.

Also she's a sharp business lady. Can be fiesty for sure, but in business that is not a bad trait to have.

I think she over-reacted to shibby not following through with the second deal however, from her point of view it was like we have baugettes back at the factory, le'ts sell them.

In fact it was the only product the lazy manufacturing team had actually baked all day!

For shibby to walk away entirely from the deal- I know would have pissed paloma off.

Trust me though- she is not a 'blind' saleswoman and would never stupidily offer goods that she couldn't deliver on.

You don't get to work for large multinationals at senior positions if u were that dumb.

Wish you people would undersand the power of the editing suite tells the story it wants....

Apart from the muffins, which were the things that actually brought in a profit.

Look, I'm not saying she was easy to work with.

She was very driven & focused at work and good at sales and people like that can be mis understood.

What I think is shitty is the character assesment you make about her which is sooooo totally influenced by the editing process.

Trust me, she is actually really, really nice but terribly focused. Check out her Linked In credentials- she no muppet!

But you can't prove that she was consciously lying, as opposed to forgetting what she'd said, so she can get out of that!

That's what makes Paloma such a phenomenal business woman, her ability to multi task.

Well there's multi tasking well, and multi tasking like a cluster bomb.
In a previous series Sugar pointed out there's nothing worse than a busy fool. That's not original, but shows he certainly recognises the problem. He's not alone in that is he?

Utterly busted. Paloma. you were a terrible liar on the program, and you are a terrible liar here. You really are so stupid that you think that you can lie on film and people won't notice, and you think you can lie on a forum and people won't notice. I really don't think it took much to "edit" you to look like a stupid lying bitch. Because if you are stupid, and you lie, and you are a bitch...
