I didn't like it, but even I can see that it was clearly never meant to be a tango - Flavia knows how to choreograph a tango, as we all know. That was tango unleashed, implying that it was never going to be ordinary tango.

That's quite an odd defence- 'it's not the weirdest thing she's done'

Having read your post I'm inclined to agree with you. But I would suggest that it didn't work overly well since you were one of the only people who realised.

I didn't dislike it because I thought they were trying to do a traditional Tango. It's quite obvious that they weren't. I disliked it because I didn't think it was very good!

Flavia can do no wrong in my eyes, but I have to admit I did find that dance a bit of a puzzle.

Yes I think you're right, well you must be, because it's what I thought

I tried to put this point across to my Mum who didn't agree and thought that Flavia was a giant spider trying to escape from her web...funnily enough my mother didn't like the dance but I did!

It was refreshing to see an established pro trying something a bit different.
It's fair to say Aliona is talked about a lot on these boards, with mixed opinions, a new choreographer with a lot of modern ideas.
I think it is better to be talked about, than not talked about!!

This dance was just a showcase for Flavia...every year she has to do something to stand out from the other pros.I must say she usually does some brilliant showdances with Vincent, but this was just crap, and her body suit she wore made it cringeworthy viewing.

How what did she do last year?

Poor lass needs help. Mind you, knocking around with ol' Vinthenth probably doesn't help you in the sanity stakes seeing as how he is evidently the motht gorgeouth man in the world (trade mark V. Simone). You're bound to lose your grip on reality.

But that travesty of a something. Surely I'm not the only viewer to have watched in sheer open-mouthed astonishment. If that's a tango then I'm UK Open Quickstep Champion.”

I have just come on and that me laugh!!
No I did not like it at all anymore than that wierd dance with her and Vincent coming down on wires. Just think she goes to far.

Flavia and Vincent are amazing showdancers, and possibly the best Argentine tango dancers in UK, always imaginative and always clever. However, I think on this occasion Flavia carried the imagination at bit too far. It was still very clever, but enjoyable? It didn't do it for me. Sorry Flav!

Well every year we have a showdance from Vinvent and Flavia.I agree the AT is their dance and think the showdances are amazing.I feel that Flavia always goes too far to get noticed, and sometimes it dosn't work.We have had the kissing you waltz which worked and was amazing....but then we had the awful very ironically named Enless love, and even danced with Anton fgs.We have had her dance with Terry Wogan, and even Gary Rhodes, comming down onto the stage on wires, not to mention being in every pro dance going.I could goon but I wont.

She's a contracted pro, why shouldn't she be in pro dances? I could name you several she hasn't been in (including some of the best ones ever imo), so please check your facts before you claim she's been in them all! And what's the problem with her dancing with Anton - James danced with Kristina last year while Ola was still in the competition, it's nothing unusual If she and Vincent are asked to do a showdance, do you expect them to turn it down?

It's your right to dislike a dance of course, but I don't think Endless Love can really be appreciated unless you've seen it live - it's absolutely breathtaking.

I'm not saying you have to like every dance she's ever done, of course you don't, but half the examples you've just given have absolutely nothing to do with her really - she gets asked to perform pro numbers as part of her contract, so there is absolutely no reason why she shouldn't. And there's no law that says she only has to dance with Vincent - she's not the only pro to dance with celebs/other people too, remember Lilia and Natalie did Sport Relief? I agree with you about the wire not working, but this series is about trying something different, they (Flavia AND Vincent) wanted to give it a go, so why not? Are they to restrain their creativity just because you think Flavia is attention-seeking?!

I think the number of pro dances she's in is more to do with when she has gone out in the competition, last year she wasn't in as many as the year before because she was in the competition longer. In 2008 she and Anton both went out early and therefore had the time to do the Children in Need and do the dance together because both of their pro partners were focusing on their celeb. The same thing happened last year with Aliona and Matt, they were in and choreographed a lot of the pro dances because they were out early and had the time to do it. It makes sense that the producers use eliminated pro's to choreograph the pro numbers.

I'm also assuming that unlike the celebs, the pro dancers are still getting paid per series rather than per live show, so the ones who are out earlier need to work harder on the pro material to justify their salaries.

Obviously Flavia isn't out yet, but I imagine the first few weeks of stuff is allocated and prepared before the series starts, so that they've got material ready to go?

Plus some people just have that desire and ability to work harder than other people. Flavia and Vincent have always been two of the most visible dancers outside SCD time, with teaching and masterclasses and a whole load of different projects on the go, so they must like being busy

It was a fantastic dance - spell binding.

I read this forum regularly and worry about the mental health of some posters.

Because we didnt like a dance ? Or becuase we dont agree with your preference ? Or for some other reason ? I hated Flavias dance , I am a fan of Flavias and usually love her work but thought that Tango was awful . I hated the outfit , seeing her bum , the whole thing .
My mental health is stable and healthy and I enjoy a full and happy life .
I think I will be ok and manage to find peace despite my preference in dance .!!

I think that's not quite fair.

I didn't like the dance either, sorry. I love Flavia, and I love her dancing. However, don't forget that people will have different preferences particularly when it comes to that kind of expressive dancing. We all have different emotions and we all look for different things. I know I'm not enjoying a dance when I'm worrying about the props (the ropes and whether Flavia would be in the right place at the right time) rather than enjoying the actual dancing.

I think that reaction was more a reaction to your other post.

That's totally irrelevant (bib). Flavia (and Vincent - and the other pros for that matter) do what they are contracted to do. Some of the pros obviously like performing the pro numbers more than others.

Lemonlime I really only ever see you on DS when you are complaining and usually particularly about Flavia and Vincent - do you bear a grudge or something?

I worry about the mental health of people who refuse to accept that someone can have a different opinion than themselves!! I'm a huge Flavia fan, she's one of my 3 favourite pros, but I didn't like that dance - didn't work in my opinion. Doesn't mean I'm any less sane or any less of a fan of Flavia!

To be fair, if you take these two remarks as unrelated then I'd agree wholeheartedly with the second one, on occasion
