Sigur Rós fans?
I know there are some on the board.
How amazing are Sigur Rós? ![]() I really love them, preferably when they sing in jibberish "Hopelandic" or "Vonlenska" or Icelandic (which is just jibberish unless you understand it )What's your favourite album and song? I think my favourite album from them is Ágætis byrjun (I copied and pased that title ) and my favourite song is either Untitled 3 or Ára bátur, both of which I am learning on piano ![]() I wasn't much of a fan of Jónsi's solo stuff, though. It wasn't bad but I much prefer it when he is with the band. I also got a copy of Ba Ba Ti Ki Di Do which is boring on it's own, but you rip each track to your PC and layer them on top of each other and get the proper track. Genius! |

Yes, absolutely adore the band. Gong is probably my favourite song by the band. Stunning. Quote:

Love his solo stuff, also the music he did with his partner, called Riceboy Sleeps.Quote:

It's avaliable on PAL. I think it's out of print now, so expensive now if you want it compared to original release. I got mine from Hong Kong in HMV when it was released.

I haven't seen Heima. I was going to get it but I've never really been a fan of music DVDs. I have most of their other stuff, though... even Hvarf/Heim which is pretty good. The only things I don't have are Von brigði (a remix album), Hlemmur (a sound track) and Rímur (since it's limited to only 1,000 copies in Iceland).
I really didn't like Riceboy Sleeps. It was dull

Another massive fan of Sigur Ros here. I can't remember exactly when I first heard of them, but the () album was the one that really made me start paying attention - and I think the 4th track from that album (Njósnavélin) is still my favourite Sigur Ros track.
Takk is probably my favourite album as a whole, as it works really well as complete album rather than focussing on individual tracks - if I'm going to listen to it at all, I have to just listen to it all the way through from the start. I've also got the Heima DVD and it's well worth getting as it's unlike just about any other music DVD I've ever seen - the locations used are stunning and fit perfectly with the music, in a way you get a better understanding of where the band are coming from when you see the music against the backdrop of the Icelandic landscape. It all makes sense. ![]() I've also seen Sigur Ros live twice and Jonsi doing his solo stuff twice, I have to admit I wasn't a massive fan of Jonsi's solo work until I saw him live, but having seen him do the songs live made me go back and listen to the CD again and I'm now a bigger fan that I was - although it still doesn't come close to the Sigur Ros material. I did really like the Riceboy Sleeps stuff though. |
