Unwanted sub titles in chase play
I have a Foxsat HDR and keep getting (unwanted) sub titles whenever I am in chase play mode. The sub titles disappear again if I wind forward to join the live broadcast, but this means missing some of the programme.
Has anyone else had this problem/know how to fix it? I have tried switching the sub title facility on/off in the hope that it would re-set, but to no avail. Is there an easier way than a factory re-set (assuming that will cure the problem)? |

I too have noticed this happening if i rewind a programme, it only seems to have started happening recently and not all the time.
Thought I was going mad, nice to see (or not depending on your point of view) someone else experiencing the same thing. Any ideas anybody |

This has been a problem before but not in chase play only in playback from the time shift buffer. Chase play(back) is selecting the recording as it's happening from the media list afaik this works without problems.
Try toggling the subtitles display option on/off in the menus |

Apologies if I chose the wrong technical description - as Graham describes, this happens when viewing from the time shift buffer - viewing the recording as it's happening from the media list works without problems.for me as well.

Perhaps in the new software they will fix this long time bug.
Also if I recall if you request subtitles during timeshift it says "not possible during timeshift" but we know better ![]() Automan. |

I have this problem too. It's driving me crazy. No amount of messing with the settings seems to do any good. I've been thinking of performing a factory reset. But would I lose my existing forward recording schedule if I do this?

Yes it will and reset preferences eg volume to 50% plus loss of any channels you may have added in non-freesat mode

Subtitles Problem
Same problem here. Again, started happening only recently, even though I have been using the box with no problems for more than six months.

It looks like the beeb have done something different on bbc 1 subtitles. It only seems to happen on the one channel

Indeed, the issue did only seem to effect certain channels and perhaps the BBC transponder reshuffle which happened this month made it worse/different.
Automan. |

Well, a happy by-product of BBC 1 HD is that we can now just switch to that. The problem doesn't occur there while it still does on BBC 1 SD.

Has nobody got an answer to this problem? It is really annoying for me as I tend to get telephones calls late in the evening as friends and family know I'm in then.
Does anyone know if the marketing guys from Humax monitor this forum (because if you are reading this Mr Humax, please sort it out)? |

You can also press exit twice as a non permanent fix, assuming we are talking time shifting rather than chasing playback.

I have been otherwise engaged but last night on BBCHd ..i was running in chase play from the Media and the wife was actually watching SCD ,,
I 'Paused' to make the cups of tea and the dreaded Sub Titles appeared..I recalled the advice of press OK twice.. which unexpectedly took me to Real Time. However. as the Results were being read out..this happening has now besmirched the HUMAX name .. Janet was not amused! i cannot recall during this past year it happening as such Stan |

I am obliged..and can explain ..
it was however a warm evening in the lounge and my poor very aged brain.. which oftimes does not know the day of the week... recalled the barely aware of 'Action Man' response wrongly..I thought that i wrote ...'that the Sub Titles appeared unexpectedly.'.as i had not seen any for many many months and such events are not listed in the Manual.. The real problem is that the programmes that the wife watches are immersive for her..and the Remote is not that easy to read in the darkness ..with the Surround Sound turned up and the EXIT button is so tiny and never used by me anyway.. otherwise i would have repeated the issue and switched on a PC |

See Post #3 for a description of the difference between Chase Play and Time Slip. So as well as being partly your fault for pressing the wrong button it is also partly your wife's fault for not recording one of her favourite programmes and watching that a few seconds behind. SOP is never to watch live TV except maybe breaking news.
