Dances for week 5 (Halloween theme!)
I know it's a bit early for this one (I can't see a thread from anyone else), but the show for 30 October sounds scary (and not in the way they intend)...
http://www.radiotimes.com/ListingsSe...s_fullpage.jsp It seems a shame that: - what could have been interesting dances will have to be contorted to fit the Halloween theme (another sign that this series is going down the DWTS route of ever more gimmicky rounds) - the Argenitine Tango won't be saved until the semi-final, as this has produced some memorable dances in previous series when only the better couples are left. On the flip side, it will give more couples than before the chance to do this dance. (I just hope they make a good job of it!) It will be interesting to see which of the dances (jive, paso, VW or AT) each of this week's survivors is allocated, as some will be easier to 'theme' than others. |

They have to have the Dance Macabre by Saint-Saëns. That would be terrific!

There will only be 2 ATs next week (presuming the 2 couples involved survive - which they should).

I wondered whether Dance Macabre was a VW.
Having said don't ruin good dances, I have thought for a while that the Nouvelle Vague version of Bella Lugosi's Dead would make a very gothic AT. Maybe now is the time! |

I HATE the idea of a Halloween 'spooky' theme - very cliched and absolutely jarring with the dances for that week - jive, VW and AT aren't intended to be spooky! And paso could look awful if they try and make it spooky and fail...
So I hope the pros are just going to have some clever music choices rather than Halloween gimmicks.... |

What a shame they are not saving the AT for the semi final it's a bit of a tradition.
Four different dances in one week is too many, the judges should be scoring on a more like for like basis as it shows up who is improving, but it will be interesting to see who is given the AT, will it be couples who usually come at the top of the leaderboard? I would think whoever get's the Jive will be rather pleased! I just hope we don't see lot's of gimmicks, none of those dances need it, especially the VW which can be a beautiful dance of done properly. |

As regards the comments about 4 different dances, once we get through the first few weeks there are always many more styles than 2 - its just we are getting to that stage a bit earlier this year. Im longing to see what the pros come up with for their dances.. Im sure Aliona's dance (whatever style it is) will be suitably "gangsta and vampish". BIB2 - Id say its going to be one of each (or where they usually are ranked). |

ITS SOMTHING DIFFERENT. how many viennese waltz, jives, paso dobles and argentine tango's do we see done time after time in the similar traditional way. i am looking forward to this alot. |

They couldn't NOT do something different for Hallowe'en really seeing as 'Trick or Treat' has become so big in this country lately.
It would be different if we were at the serious end of the competition but I'm willing to stay open minded about it. According to Len, "It's a dancing competition in an entertainment programme" and the kids will be looking forward to the 'ghosties and ghoulies' - me too! ![]() Ann, Tess and Alesha might even bring their broomsticks

I won't be surprised to hear Hallo'ween songs in the show. Maybe the theme to Hallo'ween or maybe Tubular Bells for an Argentine Tango? Though the cleb would have to be really good. Mind you knowing this years series, they'd give Tubular Bells to a jiving couple.
Possibly they'll go for a humourous twist by using Smashing Pumpkins music, maybe Tonight, Tonight for the Vienesse Waltz/Jive? Again, it'll have to be given to one of the better celebrities or slowed down. |

I'm actually disgusted they're moving the AT forward.
Goodbye semi-final excitement. |

Is Moira Ross going out of her way to destroy SCD? I can see myself giving up on one of my favourite programmes if she is still in charge next year.
