The BBC have started to copy DWTS which made changes to the last season in order to freshen it up ie props, themed dance evenings etc etc.

DWTS has become better for it because they've brought the changes in more slowly, and the whole show is much more professional than the BBC panto. Alas the Strictly panto, with changes and the doddery old fool, has just become a cringeworthy Saturday night comedy/entertainment show.

I liked it- I actually think she is improving. Watching her and Anton is a bit like watching a dance class on a Saga cruise- but its nice.

I figure its still relatively early in the series, that its still ok for Anton and Widders to be having fun, and still be in the show. If the people with talent start being voted off over Widders, (which is what happened with John Sargeant) then I think I will change my mind- but at the moment while Peter Shilton is still bumbling around I think Widders has every right to be there.

I liked it and they got a seVERn!

I thought it was atrocious, completely ridiculous and an insult to the others who were at least trying to dance.

What exactly has flying got to do with a Tango?

Flavia and Vincent did a flying tango - was it in the preview episode for this series?

That wasn't a tango, that was a showdance. They did few Argentine Tango moves in midair, but the dance was never meant to be a tango.

I missed the show this evening and am just catching up on the comments so may be about to repeat a point that has already been discussed to death - if so, sorry ....

I don't know what the judges said to AW tonight (tho someone said she got a 7 ... ) but my problem with the whole AW situation is that John Sergeant couldn't dance, and was slated to the point of rudeness by the judges. Ann W can't dance either but so far (unless they have changed their minds this week, in which case why give her a 7?) the judges have been embarrassingly encouraging ....

It wasn't John's fault that he couldn't dance and it certainly wasn't his "fault" that the public kept him in over better dancers until he had to resign. Yet he had to endure really unpleasant comments. Ann won't resign tho, so do we just have week after week of judges saying how "entertaining" she is until finally she wins?

Seems a bit unfair on John S!

I think the judges have finally learned that if they are too critical the people liable to vote for Ann will just pick up the phone even more. However the marking tonight was daft. Peter was awful but Ann was worse & should have been below him. When the overmarking affects the leaderboard that is wrong IMO & could impact on who stays/goes.

I kind of understand what your saying but I personally think that Anne Widdicombe is just so funny and doesnt take herself seriously she gives back as good as she gets and i THINK the judges like that. Thats just my humble opinion.

And I actually think she IS impoving where the sergeant didnt...

I agree with you i think she adds something to show and i too look forward to seeing her.

I think this years has been the best for me I like nearly all the dancers even shilton who tries his best.....bless him.

The only one I dont like is the self conceited rugby player cant even remember his name lol he is so up himself.......

Anne Widdecome is so not serious about herself good for her.

Much as I dislike her political views, I have to agree with everything you say.

It's refreshing to have someone on who really doesn't care about what others think.

The fact that it's the viewers who decide, rather than the pros, means that it's all about personalities and entertainment rather that the quality of the dancing.

About as much as a unicycle and false windows to any other dance.

The outrage of the dance "purists" in this thread amuses me.

I loved the flying Widde. Anton's dancing was so funny, and when she was trying to dance but was having to be pulled around manually because even the tango was too fast I thought it was really sweet how hard she tried. Her body shape doesn't exactly give her an advantage.

I'm not a dancing purist, but am still a grumpy old curmudgeon when it comes to Ann and Anton; it was a joy to see her in a truss, but I would have preferred her to hang there for longer while the audience threw wet sponges. Now THAT would have been entertaining...

The BBC are taking the p*** out of this programme.

Who's idea was it to have a "flying Margaret Rutherford look-alike" in a ballroom dance programme?"

Mind you, Miss Marple could be a good idea to solve the mess, as it's been "Murder on the Dancefloor."

To me the whole thing looked like a re-enactment of the last moments of the Hindenburg and was just as funny. What are they going to use next, a forklift truck? A catapult?

PS: I'm not a dance purist either, and I do like to be entertained but watching Anne is like hearing the same re-hashed joke over and over again.

I am not a dance purist as such but as the programme is called STRICTLY Come Dancing, surely there should be less gimmicks and more dancing? As for entertainment - she doesn't entertain me. As I have said on numerous occasions!

Unfortunately now that the Ann bandwaggon is rolling I am afraid that we will see several others go before her.
I am an Anton fan and I did find it a bit amusing at first but the novelty has now worn off for me. She is starting to give off the sort of vibes which to me indicate she believes she is there on merit.
I do hope that the people who are voting for her stop before seriously better dancers are eliminated.

I hate to scare you, but Series 1 that dancing??? Eastender (whose name escapes me) got to the final, him and his cape sometimes return to haunt me in my dreams.
