The celebrities will be dancing to a television theme.

Is anyone else getting bored with DWTS having different themes every week?

Have they had themes every week? Maybe, & I've not noticed - must admit I wasn't over keen on the raised round stage last week as I thought it restricted the dancers somewhat, but other than that I don't mind themes - especially Derek's choreography!

I agree, so many of the tunes don't match the dance.

That said, the one I liked best was Kyle and Lacey so I'm a total hypocrite I guess.

The worst thing about this weeks' show was the beginning. Over half an hour going over previous performances -:yawn::yawn:

Brandy & Maks Brandy really upped her game this week; her QS was FAB-U-LOUS!! Played into the character of "Friends" theme really well, and yet remained an excellent & "real" quickstep

Florence & Corky Corky is an idiot. Florence has the ability to dance well, and could have danced a real tango given half the chance, but he turned it into something silly and it didn't work.

Kurt & Anna great quickstep routine, and well performed, but posture and footwork were poor.

Audrina & Tony Beautiful rumba routine, technically very good, but cold.

I'm a little frustrated with acting celebs (as opposed to sportsfolk) who moan they are embarrassed or whatever about getting up-close and personal with the rumba - It's an act - so get over it and ACT!

Kyle & Lacey This has to be one of the worst so-called foxtrots ever. To be fair to Lyle, he could only do what he had been told to do, and he did so with conviction. When he and Lacey were in hold it was difficult to tell which was the celeb and which the pro dancer. Lacey's posture was appalling ... bum in, girl, shoulders back - not the other way round. And she danced in front of Kyle instead of to his right, which made it harder for Kyle to move. The rest of the routine was fine - had it been intended as a disco-type, because foxtrot it wasn't. Even Len's 5 was over generous.

Rick & Cheryl Very tasteful; not the best rumba by any standards, but not a bad effort,

Bristol & Mark She can try and perform or she can try and dance, she clearly can't do both at the same time! Poor footwork, poor co-ordination, weak legs and feet - but she did try and perform.

Jennifer & Derek Very entertaining and well performed, but I would have liked to have sen a lot more foxtrot. Not their best dance, but still one of the best on the night.

Sorry if I've sounded rather negative, but I didn't think this was one of the better dwts shows.

So I take it that Jennifer and Derek were never in the bottom two it was just strung out........

I agree I didnt think it worked this week but it was the first time they tried it and perhaps it wont be back !!!

I dont know how Kyle and Lacey were meant to dance to Charlies Angels without making it 70s I thought they did quite well even though I have to agree with Len it wasnt a foxtrot really.......they should have matched the dances to the music better to begin with.

I guess you guys are watching it UK time; I am over in the US at the moment so sadly get DWTS live and Strictly over an internet connection

I won't let you know who goes.

I have to agree with Kaycee and comment on Lacey's credentials as a 'pro' dancer - I find her very poor, I think she is a disco girl? Also isn't Audrina an actress, why the palaver about intimacy??

I mentioned on another thread, DWTS , live here is a killer - the ads do my head in

tsarina, we get a slightly edited version of DWTS on a Friday night after it's aired on Monday and Tuesday in the US, so we see the Results straight after the main show on Fridays. Although we can also view the show via YouTube on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings thanks to the dedicated uploaders in the USA who kindly put all the clips on YT after every show!

I'm trying to stay out of the main forum as much as possible at the moment as the negativity is getting me down. I'm really enjoying Strictly this year - the only downside for me is that Ian isn't in it, but at least he'll be there tonight with Michelle!

yes I agree with you all......there are some things about the new Strictly that I am not keen on (including the loss of Ian) but for me its a big improvement on the last series.......but some of the posters on 'The Americanization of Strictly' thread seem to think you are some kind of idiot if you like something thats not pure ballroom.........wasnt this show based on the film Strictly Ballroom when the main character wanted to do flashy non standard dances and stir up the fuddy duddys a bit !!!!!! perhaps they have never seen it.

I agree, I posted on the x factor - big mistake people can be so nasty over there at least on the dancing the negativity isn't filled with such viriol - yet
love DWTS and strictly but prefer the former probably because I prefer Dereks choreography over Brendans

I am also a bit fed up with the themes loved kyle and the usual top dancers
I was a bit disappointed with the elimination how Bristol wasn't in the bottom 2 after that shambles is beyond me
having said all that I do love both shows and it's lovely on a wintery evening to sit and watch

The routines suffered for the theme. Not good.

"Unwritten" for a Rumba and the Brady Bunch theme for an Argentine Tango?!

I agree kaycee - two shows in a row as well. If Jennifer was struggling, then this was Brandy's or Audrina's big chance. I think Brandy has clicked now, but Audrina hasn't.

I dont dislike the themes as such but I think they shouldnt have one every week.

Right person went home this week for me.
Me too - mainly because they just won't play it straight.

I watch at US pace, but through a download, so not live and no ads. I usually wait until the others have seen the show in the UK to post (but not always!).

.
Haha - you know what they say about great minds!!!!

Agree about Audrina. I don't know her, so don't know what she does, but I'm guessing an actress? She's got it all going for her; very attractive, great figure etc., but she comes across (to me, anyway) of being unable to portray emotion. I can understand this being a problem with sportspeople, and the likes of Bristol, but an actress should be able to act the part.

Dancing - particularly Latin - is largely acting, and even the pro dancers have to put on an act ..... a gay dancer for example, having to look as if he/she adores his/her partner; a guy dancing with his sister; a couple who've just had a blazing row....... (!!!)

In the case of the rumba, though, I don't think some of the judges (Bruno, Carri Ann & Craig in particular) help with their frequent (& boring) reference to a rumba having to be "sexy". The best rumbas are gently romantic not sexy!!

Audrina's not an actress really - she's been in a few B-movies off the back of her appearances in The Hills, but they've been more for something to do, than because it's really a job.

So what does she do then, that makes her a celeb?

Lacey was a swing dance champion, who appeared on So You Think You Can Dance. (I believe she was 2nd or 3rd). She is the sister of Benji Shwimmer (sp?) who won the show the previous year.

Overall, she is an amazingly talented dancer, although very weak on ballroom technique. I also find her far too fond of herself, and, on DWTS, dances to her "own agenda" instead of what she should be dancing, which I find particularly arrogant, and often to the detriment to her celeb.

I *think* (although not entirely sure as I don't watch The Hills) that it is some kind of reality show so she is a celeb on the same basis that a Big Brother contestant is a 'celeb'.

I thought The Hills was a drama/soap type TV show, and I guess it is in a way - but it is a reality show! So Audrina has played herself! On here website she has a Q&A section and this is one of the Q&As

Mary asked:

hii audrina well im such a big fan of The Hills and i like it very much but my question is is that real? or you are acting? i have ever wanted to know that love you so muuch giirl you are fabulos

01/13/2010 audrina answer:

Hi thank you!.... We film about our feelings toward eachother on the show alot, and recap what happens the night before. At times it is a bit guided and manipulated but there are definitely real situations!!

As an actress she has been in three films -
2009 - Into The Blue 2: The Reef (Direct-to-DVD)
2009 - Sorority Row
2011 - Kids in America
2011 - Honey 2 (Direct-to-DVD)

I love watching Lacey dance, but it is clear after a few series that's she's never going to excel at choreographing routines that showing off her celebs.
