Hello everyone!

I don't post on here very often but I thought I would today.

I don't think the TV themes were appropriate for a lot of the dances, but that didn't stop me enjoying the show. Though if I were in charge, it wouldn't be back next year unless they don't dance to their own show's theme, as it probably won't fit the dance. With the themes in general, it seems like they're trying too hard to think of new themes, but they don't need one every week. A few series ago they had themes such as "Latin week" which wasn't that inventive, but it didn't need to be.

I actually really enjoyed part of Kyle and Lacey's dance and think Lacey's a great dancer. But it wasn't a foxtrot and I didn't like the bits in hold. If it had been a disco samba I think it could have worked with the music but as a foxtrot, not convinced.

My favourites are Jennifer and Derek, and don't really care what experience she has, she's just really good! Derek's choreography is wonderful, though I do think he's lucky to get such good partners.

By the way, I love both shows and although I'm not a fan of many of the SCD changes this year, they won't stop me loving it (series 2 and 3 were my favourites). DWTS has lost something for me since Julianne left and I hope she returns one day. I know she's had some success with her singing but there's no way she could ever be as good a singer as she is a dancer.

Anyway, I'm worried I've strayed off topic! Sorry!

Hi there!

Jennifer and Derek are my favourites too. He's one of the best choreographers on the show and produces at least one outstanding routine every season. So far this series, it is the AT - just stunning!

oh and while we are in the DWTS forum......there are a lot of sanctimonious posters on the main forum at the moment......really down beat and its getting on my wick.......I find I am defending things I dont actually like much because I am so fed up with the negativity.

Thanks just had to get that off my chest.

That thread is getting on my nerves Jan.
For health reasons I'm avoiding 60% of the threads on DS at the moment

The negativity is really getting on my wick too.
It's like they don't want any changes at all, Did they totally miss last years awful series!

Back to DWTS, I thought it was a bit of a flop tbh. Thought poor Kyle had it worst with the Charlies Angels theme tune.

Can you imagine the reaction downstairs if Strictly copied it!
Tina could do a waltz to the Corrie theme tune

So what does she do then, that makes her a celeb?
Lauren Conrad was part of a documentary on MTV about young people growing up in The OC, as a counterpoint to the teen drama The OC. When it finished, as she was one of the most popular "characters", she got her own spin-off "documentary" called The Hills which followed her moving to LA to be a fashion designer. Audrina was one of Lauren's friends in LA after she moved and then stayed with the show after Lauren stopped appearing

Basically that's it. She's not a talent celebrity. Such is US tv.

Hiya! I'd rather not imagine that tbh!

The themes this week and last week on DWTS seemed like a good idea to me, but it was so badly done. Maybe theme nights should be dropped and the show should just go back to letting the pros make the decisions about routines.

Thanks for the information. At least we've not had a 'reality TV star' on SCD - yet.

Agreed, he really is something special. And not just as a choreographer, I could watch him dance all day! Some of the pro dances he used to do with Julianne were phenomenal. I also remember there was this one pro dance they all did to Dancing Fool on the opening show of one "season" which has to be my favourite ever. I must've watched it hundreds of times. I think Derek choreographed it but not 100% on that.

I think AT is one of his strongest dances, his AT with Nicole was top notch as well!

I just hope Jennifer can handle the expectation and carry on entertaining us!

I *think* (although not entirely sure as I don't watch The Hills) that it is some kind of reality show so she is a celeb on the same basis that a Big Brother contestant is a 'celeb'.
Audrina is very much the same sort of celeb as Kim Khardashian was, so yes, famous for being famous more than anything else. It would certainly be stretching the definition to call her an actress.

As an actress she has been in three films -
2009 - Into The Blue 2: The Reef (Direct-to-DVD)
2009 - Sorority Row
2011 - Kids in America
2011 - Honey 2 (Direct-to-DVD)
I've seen this... she's only in it for about 2 minutes. She couldn't have more than 20 words to say in it. She gets killed very early in the film and all the action before that is her pretending to be dead. Very minimal acting, so can understand how she's not the best actress. That said, I do actually really like her.

Lacey was a swing dance champion, who appeared on So You Think You Can Dance. (I believe she was 2nd or 3rd). She is the sister of Benji Shwimmer (sp?) who won the show the previous year.

Overall, she is an amazingly talented dancer, although very weak on ballroom technique. I also find her far too fond of herself, and, on DWTS, dances to her "own agenda" instead of what she should be dancing, which I find particularly arrogant, and often to the detriment to her celeb.
Totally agree with you. As a performer she is great, but she should never do shows where she has to teach and think about making someone else look good. That's just alien to her. It's all about Lacey.

I must admit the TV Tunes idea just bombed. I was sad about that. The music was so impossible, cheesy and, well, just naff

I love DWTS - despite Bwook and Creepy Corky - and it pained me to see dancers trying to choreograph to such rancid 'tunes'. It is SO hard to dance well to dreadful music: when I think of some of the stuff I had to dance to I wince

I love watching Derek and Jennifer, and they are and always have been my favourites. I like the way Brandy is progressing too. Loved her dress: she looked so beautiful. Rick is my eye candy, but the height difference is slightly ruining it for me.

Tom rocks, as do the costumes.

And yes, I am with Bonny and Jan on that SCD v DWTS thread and the small world of ballroom! Gawd! I had to step away for fear of really unleashing my acid Cruella de Ville style journo spleen out there. I'm kind of hoping either Bonny or Jan will come and grab me by the ankles and reel me in if I do?

He is seriously talented. I love his choreography and would kill to dance with him. I think Jennifer suffers hugely from her past injuries and is being very strong and determined about the whole venture. Constant pain is an absolute killer and can make you very short tempered. I have huge respect for her. She works her butt off too. I like that

I felt she was the same on SYTYCD, in fact if she had been just a little less full of herself, I think she may even have won the show. Unfortunately I don't think anyone will manage to bring her down to size because she appears to have the attitude that if anyone disagrees with her, then they must be wrong.

Yes, she was the same on SYTYCD and I also agree it may well have lost her the final. I love that show. I pine for it

Thank you!

Sat's SCD was dire. So glad I watched it on FF. The props were beyond naff. Brandy is just gorgeous. Great singer too.

Feel very sorry for Michelle. She can sing, but she has no natural dance ability at all. It annoys me that just because she's black and in a girl band the public assume she'll be one hell of a mover. Such stupid assumptions! I can think of at least 4 of my black friends who will admit they are not great dancers, including my ex - who was hopeless! And he was the first to admit he had no natural moves!

Absolutely, me too - the UK show just wasn't the same - as much as I like Arlene, I really miss "mad" Mary Murphy!

I agree with you about most things on your various posts, but have to disagree about Sat's SCD! I thought it was great. I don't mind props so long as they add to the ambience of the dance ...... thought Jimi & Flavia's windows pointless, whereas Matt's few seconds on the unicycle added to the 'circus' theme. And some of the other routines was great - Nat & Scott's tango was wonderful - I hope they get to repeat it.

I understand what you are saying about Michelle. There is a huge difference to 'jigging' to your own music when singing, than dancing with correct technique etc.... But I think her problem stems from having very long, but very weak legs.

I'm with kaycee about Saturday's SCD (except Ann's harness ), but I agree with you about Michelle. Not just about the stupid assumptions about her dancing ability, I also hate all the stuff about her 'sulky' face and 'poor' attitude. I've followed her on twitter and joined in one of her live online webcasts with her fans - and she was a hoot and SUCH a nice girl. It just shows how the VT can affect how a celeb is perceived. Unfortunately I think the damage has been done now.

Ah yes, I should have mentioned that. I loved that tango and I love them. Great couple. I should also have mentioned the fact that I loathe and detest the Charleston. I even hate dancing it, so last Saturdays SCD was never going to knock me sideways. Stroppy so and so that I am!

I am also furious that Widdecombe was allowed to wreck a great piece of music, and I wish she'd go now....
