Do you use your thumb or finger to text, I am finding it really difficult with a touch screen compared to buttons??

Thumbs. It does take some getting used to but now that I'm used to it I'd much rather have a touch screen than keys.

Thumb, and both thumbs when in landcape mode. It feels odd at first but you soon get used to it and now if feels completly normal. I have a HTC Desire and the predicitive text is brilliant and I can quickly type emails and texts with both thumbs, plus if I get fed up typing I can always speech to text

Portrait mode - middle finger
Landscape - both thumbs

On my iTouch I almost always use my right index-finger exclusively in portrait-orientation, and have got used to tapping at a decent speed with it (with all auto-correction turned off, as I found that was more trouble than it was worth-- much better to tap correctly in the first place).

I rarely use the keyboard in landscape mode, but I remember when I had a Psion 3a with a proper keyboard that I always used the two-thumbs typing method with it.

Depends

My current Samsung phone is a resistive touch, so mainly thumb, but with my iTouch and its superior touch screen, finger and thumb as needed

Always fingers but if only have one hand free (then thumbs but very slowly). I find fingers much quicker.

Index finger on my left hand and thumb on my right hand. I find it far quicker than a phone with buttons, but it depends on the touch screen. My first touch screen was a samsung tocco, god awful phone and then I got an iPhone, it was a whole world of difference.
