Waiting for an HTC Desire on Orange upgrade...
Just wondering if anyone has recently upgraded to the Desire on Orange, and if so how long they've had to wait for it. They've offered me a really good deal if I upgrade with them direct, but after waiting almost two weeks they've said it will be early Novemeber at the earliest, and that it isn't guaranteed that I'll get it, even when they tell me that the handset "reserved" for me is in stock!
I've Googled around and seen that the stock shortage has been an ongoing issue for a while, so I was just wondering how long others have been waiting on upgrades (I notice that for new customers on the website its in stock). It worries me that if its so hard to come by, they wont be able to replace the handset if it breaks, or is stolen, which would be a waste of me paying them for insurance. I'm considering giving up on it altogether, and saving myself even more money by leaving Orange and getting the Wildfire on T-Mobile instead. Can anyone offer any insight into how long they waited at all? |

I'd test them by calling up and cancelling the contract, citing the delay on the upgrade as the reason. You can always cancel your cancellation later if you decide to bottle it, but it might get you the phone quicker.

Well they offered me this deal when I told them that I was cancelling my contract in the first place, and have chased them up twice without them seeming to care, even with me pointing out that I'd seen it's in stock on their website (in fact, they just ignored me saying so).
I have my PAC code for moving networks, so I think I may put the pressure on my telling them that I still intend to use it as things stand. Thanks for the advice. |
