I have a 32 inch Samsung HD TV and the sound isn't the best i've heard on a TV, but putting the Virtual Surround option on has made the sound so much crisper and better.

Has anyone else with a similar TV had to put the Virtual surround option on, or have you left it off and just changed the equiliser options?

Mostly it cranks the treble, being that tv speakers are less than optimal to begin with, there is no audiophile quality sound to corrupt, so whatever makes it sound better is fine.

Leaving the sound as the default with the virtual sound off, the audio sounds like it's coming through margarine tubs even with the equiliser settings changed a little, but with the surround on it makes it more listenable

I have a Samsung TV and very rarely use the onboard speakers. I have a Samsung Blu-Ray home cinema 5.1 system. The Sky HD box is connected to one optical slot and the other the PS3, unless I am watching either Freeview or Internet TV, whereby I disconnect the PS3 optical and connect it direct to the TV

My new 50" 3D tv speakers seem slightly worse than my other 50" Samsung which I bought a couple of years ago. I guess with it being so thin, there is only so much room they can work with

Other than a brief catch up of the news / weather all my TV watching is done with the sound going through my AV surround amp or through my hi-fi stereo amp (better for music programmes).
