VHS-c
If I'm in the wrong section feel free to move me...
I've got some of those small VHS-c tapes that you used to get when using a video recorder. I bought a VHS-c adapter so that I could watch them in my normal VHS player but I'd like to transfer them onto disc. What equipment could I use to do it? (Preferbly at home and not too costly) Thanks |

(Preferbly at home and not too costly) Thanks I have more than 50 VHS-C tapes and they've been sitting around for years waiting as I've gradually copied other vhs to dvd . You need a HDD/DVDR combo. Don't buy a dvd only recorder. With a HDD you can copy all your tapes to the HDD before doing anything else. You can then view them and do any editing you require and you can resequence them as you wish etc. It makes the job much easier and the end result a million times better than simply copying the tapes to a blank. If yours are anything like mine you will have odd bits at the end of one tape that could do with being moved next to the recording on another tape rather than the one they are at the end of. NO worries doing any of this if your recorder has a HDD . I would buy a Panasonic (because Pioneer don't do them anymore) , set it to SP then put around 2 hours of material on every blank |

If you have a DVD recorder in your PC / laptop and you can get your VHS player near it then you can get an analogue capture card off ebay for a tenner or so, e.g. this card which also doubles as a freeview tuner for your PC,
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Hauppauge-HVR-...item3cb1c43d07 Then there is plenty of software on the PC to edit and convert. Even windows movie maker can do a decent enough job. Remember that VHS only recorded at 200 line of resolution so don't need to bother capturing at some stupid resolution, most decent capture softsoft that should have a VHS setting to optimise file size vs quality. |
