In the Sun today:
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage...oom-blitz.html

I always liked Tom but I don't anymore! I agree with some of it (Tess = presenting robot etc) but really disappointed with much of what he had to say. For example:

Quote:
“I pretended I couldn't dance so it didn't look like I had an unfair advantage.”

Hmm....

That article isn't even half as bad as they're making it out to be.

I wouldn't pay too much attention to this article

a- it's in the Sun

b- it's a 'third party' interview... they state at the bottom he was interviewed by comedian Scott Capurro (probably on stage at a comedy show) and therefore most of it is probably tongue in cheek

Did you read it at all ? He didnt say Tess was a robot , he was talking about a sketch and how he now thinks of her so . I think your taking it a little out of context to be honest .

Quite honestly, I take these "interviews" with a pinch of salt. Most of them are made up by the journalist and no doubt we will have Tom issuing a statement that he was misquoted or did not even give the interview. I get furious at times as so many comments /reports are printed and then denied by the celeb involved. It seems today the journalists just write headlines and do not care or bother to check their facts before going into print. No doubt if Tom had said anything complimentary about Strictly it would not have been such a sensational interview!!! No say Tess is a robot and that he was a dancer before the show and that all the contestants hate each other..........etc YAWN

Of course I read it, did you read my post??
I said I agreed with some of it eg Tess = presenting robot.

Oh well if its in the sun then there is no chance he has been misquoted

But when I read it again I realized a lot of what he says is probably true rather than 'slagging off'

I can believe that::-

They tell the contestants in the background to keep smiling, look at what is picked up on here when they are not doing this.

He and Austin not being 'friends'. They are both competitive and wanted to win

Tess is lovely but I can see what he means about her being a presenting robot

Can believe Bruce is nicer when not concentrating on the autocue, and that Craig is nicer off screen

And finally that tap and jazz is different to ballroom dancing.

So all in all I dont see anything to get het up about

The fact that he mentions it all, speaks volumes.

Not surprised tbh, he came across to me as that creepy type.

Loved that showdance, but his dancing for the most part and Camilla's choreo wasn't my cup of tea...couldn't work out what the hell she was on that year. She did beautiful work with Gethin, but I still have nightmares about that rumba with Tom strangling her at the end.

Don't like pretence of any sort.

Completely agree, it's impossible to determine how serious he just from reading those quotes, I'd say it's highly unlikely he was being totally serious given the circumstances of the interview.

I did have to laugh at the line "But I'd take him out given the chance!" about Austin, that should be if he had the ability, Austin would definitely have won that fight

Austin should have won the show as well.

That's the giveaway line of the whole piece as to whether it's for real or not.

Is that the best they can do?
Random mis/quotes from a contestant 2 years ago is a bit pathetic really.

Definitely Tom wouldn't have stood a chance against Austin, even Erin could of taken out Tom

I don't believe he's being serious at all tbh. For one thing Tom and Austin clearly got on well and the fact that even Camilla could probably take him out with one punch should be enough for anyone to see that he's taking the P

Typical of The Sun (owner one Rupert Murdoch, boss of Sky TV and a long-time 'hatah' of the Beeb) to attempt to make more of it though....

Yep, this ^. Anyway, of course they tell them to smile, it's showbiz daaahling, they're supposed to be all t'n't. So he hated it so much he signed up for more torture with the celeb tour.

Do a search, if you go about 10 threads down you'll find this thread on exactly the same topic: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/s....php?t=1373282

He's a bit of a cheek considering that he was about the fakest person on there at the time. Did not like him at the time, or think he deserved to win anyway. All his bitching just backs up why i never liked him.

Tom owes his career to that show. And he was by far the most minor star on there that year.

With the greatest respect, anyone getting wound up by this 'story' is being made a mug of by Rupert Murdoch.

Strictly is a great means for his 'newspapers' to attack the BBC - the real target here, as ever. Rubbishing one of its top brands is just a means to an end and I wouldn't believe a word of it. I've worked with Tom and while he might not be the brightest button in the box, he certainly isn't snide or malicious. Unlike The Sun ...

Er ... hello?

Tom owes his career to Holby City. For all his talk of going to the US to become a star there, he then ended up on Waterloo Road - hardly a great career move.

And please don't tell me he was a minor star compared to the likes of Lisa Snowdon ...

You can't make up a direct quote.

The ones that are fake are those from "sources" and "friends" and where they "reportedly said".

It seems he did this "interview" during a comedy show at the Vauxhall Tavern, so I think we can say he was probably joking, but he must have said those words.

While you may feel he isnt snide or malicious, he certainly comes across as such in this article. Regardless of your views about the Sun, or any newspaper, i dont think the article is pure fiction which means some or most of this must have come from something that Tom Chambers himself has said. I stick with my own views on him, and also think that something has to have been said to have been reported.
