Same thing as last year with Natalie Cassidy - resigned to him leaving early but don't want him to

Patsy is so negative every week, she gets me down when she does her " well I've enjoyed myself but I don't expect we'll be back next week " speech. Poor Robin, he's got a heck of job there.

'Tutu' styled skirts are (like most ballroom and Latin dresses) built on a leotard. She may well have been wearing knickers under the leotard - most dancers do!

It is a family entertainment dancing show so why bring your political views into a discussion on whether Ann can dance or not!?

I dont think that is relevant on this thread? It is not a Politics forum, or is it now?

On a positive note I thought that this was one of the most entertaining weeks of the series, with a couple of exceptions - Peter, who was just appalling (and I didn't think Erin was very good either) and Gavin - he previously talked the talk, but that's about all he can do.

Of the Charlestons I thought :

Jimi & Flavia were very entertaining, but footwork was not wonderful.

Tina & Jared good routine but they kept going out of sync with each other, and most of the time I thought Tina looked better than Jared.

Patsy & Robin - (wig suited her) great characterisation but she seemed to run out of steam halfway through.

Peter & Erin - didn't even looked like a charleston; dreadful.

Matt & Aliona SUPERB!!!

Kara & Artem fab routine, really well danced, but for me it lacked the WOW factor.

Tangos

Scott & Natalie No gimmicks, just a real great routine, beautifully danced and I WANT NAT'S DRESS!!!!!

Felicity & Vincent Felicity can make beautiful lines, but as soon as takes up a hold to dance "proper" steps, she looks stiff and awkward. Vincent tried to disguise this by putting in moves more suited to the Argentine Tango, but it doesn't work.

Gavin & Katya It was barely an ok dance; other sportspeople have no acting skills but at least have shown some personality.

Pamela & James another great routine, but, as pointed out by the judges, there was a tension in Pamela's shoulders that hasn't been there before. Maybe she is beginning to feel a tad tired? Still very good though.

Michelle & Ian Probably Michelle's best dance, and a lovely routine, but even in hold she still seems a bit like Bambi staggering on dainty legs!

Ann & Anton
What can I say? As a dance it was pretty dreadful, but I'm sure Ann's "Flying Tango" will go down in Strictly history! At least it was entertaining.

Good indeed - very good - but I can do without sons, mums, dads, sisters, brothers and mates etc.

Let the dancing do the talking.

Kara's dancing does proper joined up talking with lots and lots of multi syllable words and all 'er grammatical bits & pieces in the right place.

That's all I'm saying (for now).

Have to say Scott and Natalie are not my favourite couple, but danced well tonight.

I have to say having Anne on this programme is a stitch-up. She'll still get through mind you.

Well she can't dance, so personality and entertainment are the only criteria a viewer can judge on. Therefore, a person's view of celeb outside their performance is relevant. If you don't like someone, they're not going to entertain you.

I agree, Tina looked more like the professional than Jared did. I am not impressed with his skills so far.

Why not? Ann clearly can't dance, and in the Latin doesn't even try to, so one has to judge her performance on other criteria. People's perceptions of her as a politician have every relevance as to whether they find her entertaining or not. Personally I don't care about her political views, I just don't find her entertaining at all and wish she'd be voted off asap.

I suppose it's the old thing of ... is it about entertainment or is it about learning to dance and improving week on week ? Maybe both !!! Would you vote for someone who was technically great but didn't entertain you ? Or vice versa ?

Anyone will tell you it's about both, but it still has 'dancing' in the title, therefore if you don't have both, you shouldn't still be in the competition. It's not 'Strictly Come make a fool out of yourself with stupid gimmicks just to get a laugh and some votes'.

I wouldn't vote for someone technically brilliant whose personality I didn't warm to - hence why I'm glad Ricky didn't win last year. BUT I also refuse to vote for someone who doesn't try to improve.

"Apart from dancing, what else can you do Matt?"

"Well I can do gymnastics, ride a unicycle and milk a cow."

"Perfect, that'll fit right in with the dances."

"Which dances?"

"This year - any of them."

Ann hangs from a crane for 30 seconds.
Disappears for 30 seconds to unshackle herself.
Dances a Quango for 30 seconds.
"What's that worth Len?"
"SeVEEEN!"

I think Aliona's right.

And to be fair to Aliona, apart from the faffing about, she still puts more content into the 90 seconds than anyone else.

It's different the pros get to come back and compete another year - well in theory anyway - the celebs don't. The competition is about the celebs not the pros. It would be completely unfair for a celeb to not dance because of something that happened to their pro - although it would have been kinda cool if Brendan had danced with Gaby in series five after Kelly had pulled out.
