I quite like Wetherspoons if I want a quick pint and something to eat. They've been going for years and have pubs all over the country so they must be doing something right.

On the issue of people drinking early in the morning, I always used to think the same. Who on earth has a pint at that time in a morning? You don't know their circumstances though, they might have just finished a night shift somewhere. Don't judge a book and all that.

Our local Wetherspoons is great. We often nip in for a brunch and it's hot, well cooked, nicely presented and great value. It's very clean, the loos are spotless and the staff are friendly and helpful. Can't fault it really.

I think there are good ones and bad ones. A few can be pretty rotten full of all sorts of characters, but plenty of them are clean, light and pretty pleasant. The free wifi is useful, and the food drink is entirely predictable, its hardly top class cuisine, but its not rotten either, its perfectly adequate filling grub

The beers are usually OK but the food is rubbish. Call me old fashioned but I'd rather my food is actually cooked by a chef. Yes, it's cheap but I find it a complete waste of money as it's painfully average and instantly forgettable. What's the point in paying good money for something that isn't enjoyable? I believe that if I'm spending money to eat out I want to thoroughly enjoy it and finish it thinking "Wow, that was great!"

This afternoon I've just had a burger in a local independent pub, a 1/2 pound burger made on the premises topped with black pudding, chorizo, stilton, a Jack Daniels reduction and their own homemade chilli jam, served with their wonderful homemade chips and onion rings. It was £11.50 which is more than Wetherspoons but I enjoyed every single mouthful and am still thinking about how good it was and am already looking forward to going again to sample another one from the menu.

Yep. pretty much agree with that. The one near me is wonderful and the staff are great and I love the food, especially the fish n chips and the sirloin steak is a good as you get a Miller and Carter in town where it's over £20 and at Wetherspoons its £6.15 on steak day and you get a drink with that too.

The one in Bridlington though I have to say I wasn't impressed with last time I was there.

the Eggs Bendict at Wetherspoons are excellent and superb value at about £3.50. I went to a very posh place with a friend and EB cost £9 and was nothing special. Same thing at Wetherspoons was really good and less than half the price.

Your breakfast time is a nightshift workers evening time.

As well as being breakfast time for alcoholics.

I don't judge a book by its cover,by choice I wouldn't have gone in a pub for breakfast,but had an appointment and that was closest place,I was starving!
I also thought maybe it was shift workers having a pint to chill,but not all of them, each to their own and all that.

I work nights but when I finish work I don't go to the pub, I go home, to bed. Each to their own though and all that, nowt wrong with having a drink at 8am if you've been working for the past 12 hours.

Beer and Burger offer is good, where I live it's £4.99 for any single burger (with chips and coleslaw) and a pint of Guinness. Can't fall off for that.

They also once did Greene King IPA for 99p a pint and still accepted my CAMRA "50p off" vouchers on them. 49p for a pint of IPA? Lovely

I worked in a Wetherspoons for a while and the first people I served at 8 in the morning were some pensioners to beer. They lived alone and met up every day for a bit of company. Old people get up earlier so were out earlier. I felt sorry for them really and always tried to have a bit of a chat with them.

Problem with Wetherspoons is they are located in busy city centres which lack any community and the food is mass produced. There is also a lack of car parking too.

I find if you visit a town or city its best to find a residential pub, that's more down to earth and cheaper such as the pub you might find in a residential estate. Often they have free parking, so you can get straight back to your car. They often serve home made foods such as hot pot or pork scratchings.
You can chat with the locals about all sorts or things and a good place to chat up any one of the opposite gender

Well, that's the market they are going for - lots of passing trade who want a quick drink and something to eat before moving on.

I travel around the country a lot with work and I use them regularly. There are some especially good and bad branches but on the whole you know what you are going to get. They aren't the sort of "locals" pub where everyone stops drinking and stares at you when you walk in the door.

I recently stayed at a Wetherspoons Hotel overnight.
The rooms were excellent value and clean.
The pub beneath was one of the worst examples of a Wetherspoons I've ever experienced. Every table was awash with crockery and glasses - when we arrived, when we went out and when we returned.
We made the mistake of ordering breakfast there next morning - Eggs Benedict!
It came out in next to no time and was cold.
The eggs were solid and cooked in a mold as all four were uniform in shape.
The replacements were equally bad.
I had to order at the bar and queue with three or four drinkers and there were quite a few others already drinking.

We have about four here.
Three are seedy, one is very nice indeed and attracts families.

Car parking doesn't bother me, why would I drive to the pub?

Last time I went in the food was terrible. Hot dog and chips just dumped on a plate with no salad or any sort of garnish. I don't expect much from them but that was awful. They're on 'the list' now.

Sometimes on a Tuesday a friend and I go to Wetherspoons and have their steak deal. At the one near me it's £6.15 but at the one near where she lives it is £8.25. Neither are city centre so a big difference in price.

I have always found that one to be OK, and usually very busy.

Blaize's near Old Trafford is a real eye opener though - all human life is there! A pint of Cantona was very pleasant though, and very cheap.

I had something inedible the other day. It was ham and egg. I didn't think anyone could go wrong with something as simple as that but boy was I wrong! I was dining out with an uncouth friend, who spat his out onto his plate.

I complained but as I did not pay, my friend wimped out of getting his money back.

There's a Wetherspoons in the Vatican??
Does Pope Francis hang out there - or Franky the Pope as the boys know him?

That sums up how I feel.
