What a show ! Unforgettable Ann, setting new Strictly rules... and all the other fabulous dances.. http://wp.me/p124B5-Uc What did you think ?

Yeah, I really enjoyed loads of the dances tonight, and there has been much improvement all round. Great show tonight indeed.

As for Ann, I couldn't stop laughing - for all the 'right' reasons... as well

I thought it was a rancid pile of diarrhoeaic shite and possibly the most f*cking ridiculous, frustrating and farcical mockery of my once favourite show. I don't even have the words to express my utter, utter contempt.

Maybe you should give the show a miss in future...

Diarrhoeaic shite! Personally I liked it very much, but it was a bit of a circus - that's to my taste, but obviously not to yours!

Everyone's entitled to share their opinion, good or bad.

Tonight's show was good until the last 5 minutes, which were just utter tripe.

I'll post what I like and my comments are just as valid as any patronising, sycophantic drivel that others may care to post. This show has been the highlight of my week for years now and I am extremely aggrieved that this evening's piss poor excuse for a sideshow carnival has replaced what used to be enjoyable dance based entertainment and I will like **** "keep quiet" about it. We already know that journalists and people from the BBC read these boards and they need to know that this evening's shambles is not the direction that some people want to see the show taking, with cheap gimmicks and stupid stunts taking the place of dance routines. If you can't take listening to criticism then it'sprobbaly best to stick to Appreciation threads instead of the main board.

Diarrhoeaic shite! Tonight, I found it bit meh, some and Not enough of this or smilie in reaction to tonight's performances and am dreading the spooky crap planned for next week.

After its second appearance on SCD, I want the Charlston gone. It doesn't add anything to SCD, just an excuse to arse about, I've seen the clip of Ginger Rogers dancing it and that's good but I haven't seen anything remotely like that (in terms of actual footwork) tonight.

Tangos were dull on the whole. Scott's was tame, Felicity from the little I saw was bit off-balance like Michelle's. Cougar Pammie at least had some of what I was expecting from a Tango. But on the whole just meh.

It really wasn't to my taste, to put it mildly. If I wanted to watch a pantomime or a circus I'd go to one. It's not about "purity" but they should at least be recognisable as dance routines.

I am genuinely interested Rosssyranran did you not like ANY of the dances ? what about Scott and Natalie which looked pretty good to me and didnt have any faffing. Or Pamela and James ......and I am sure that the Charleston is probably not your thing but if it has to be done then wasnt Kara and Artem's pretty good ?

Well, I loved it! There's no obvious winner yet and the Beeb have definitely upped their game IMO. The Charleston and Tango are my favourite dances so for me it was bliss

I did like Scott and Natalie's dance. Even though I've not been particularly a fan of their's it was the only dance that actually deserved the marks it was given and was a good tango, in comparison to the others. I'm not keen on the Charleston, mainly due to the gurning and jazz hands. Kara's wasn't too bad at all, she had some good footwork and was stupidly criticised for not being cheesy and embarrasing enough. Pamela's dance was clumsy and unsteady in quite a few places and was ridiculously overmarked, given the fact that she looked like she was hanging on for dear life and was about to go flying more than once.

I fullheartedly agree with your comment.
AW's perfomance is Strictly unworthy.
It belittles the efforts of all the other couples.
Even on DWTS they wouldn't dare allow such a farce.

AW's flying circus act was like the descent of the Angel of Death heralding the end of Strictly as we know and love it.

And don't get me started on the ridiculous scores.

The rest of the show was great.
Kara in her skimpy outfit, the grace that is Flavia...

I'm with you rossy, the charleston's were rubbish, most of the tangos tame and as for the flying barrage balloon I really don't know what to say.

I liked most of the show, but I have to agree with that comment entirely.

well, of course everyone is entitled to their own opinion and is free to express it. I just think there are ways of doing so - constructive criticism is always better than negativity. Don't you hear the contestants asking for the same from the judges, all the time ? And I am a journalist, who has to adhere to a code of conduct.

My expectations are probably different as I know nothing much at all about how the dances should look. To me, moving about to music is dancing! But I salute your fighting spirit, and can feel your disappointment.

Presumably a code of conduct also includes some objectivity and if you are asking others for their opinions you should recognise all of them not just the ones that tally with your own. There is, in my view, absolutely nothing constructive to say about unicycles and harnesses.

I do think your passion is admirable - I would just love to hear what you would do to improve the things that have so disappointed you ? I don't ever expect everyone to agree with me - but I do hope for courtesy and respect for others of course !

I'm not sure that telling people to keep quiet is particularly courteous or respectful you know.
In terms of improving the show I would quite simply like to see the contestants competing on an even playing field and using the skills they are supposed to learning to complete competent dance routines. I have always enjoyed watching people learning to dance, even those that weren't very good at it were still entertaining to me. Relying on flashy stunts and gimmicks to disguise the fact that they haven't learned even the most basic of routines is pointless and frustrating. The adaptations of the foxtrots and the quicksteps over the past couple of weeks have made the American Smooth almost completely pointless as most of the couples have already performed some version of it. Finally the utter inconsistency of the judges in quite rightly criticising the messing about but then praising other couples for performing circus stunts is very annoying.

Constuctive criticism may be better than negativity, but that doesn't negate a person's right to be negative if they so desire.

Telling someone they'd be better not posting if they haven't got anything positive to say isn't particularly constructive to me I'm afraid.

For my part, I liked most of the show, but I'm getting sick of the props element getting bigger and bigger - it did Jimi and Matt no favours tonight. And I'm sick of the costume department recycling outfits - Brendan's rumba outfit last week came from the launch show, and Aliona's dress this week was from a pro dance last year. Have they finally run out of ideas, or good ones at least? only 1 really stunning ballgown tonight (Katya's).

And there is nothing positive for me to say about Ann, so I just won't say anything.

Its hard to please everyone, given that SCD fell into a hole last year I dont think the response could have been much better. Glittering set, a well thought out and well known cast list and some very impressive ratings so far. Bruce is pretty much as good as he could be given that he is in his eighties and Iv actually smiled at some of his jokes.
Not everything works for me-there are too many new dancers all at once and they dont say enough, the structure of the results show isnt good. Overall though its highly watchable and a definite positive move after last year.
