I have a pair of mission 760 speakers connected to my AV amp which I am using as front speakers. They are pretty old and way before the time of AV equipment really.

What sort of money would I need to spend to get any better quality sound. I find them OK but they do sound a bit 'flat', but definately better then internal speakers on the tv.

What AV amp do you have? What kit is connected to it and how is it connected?
The speakers may well be the weak link but suggesting a suitable upgrade depends on the system as a whole.

As above post your system details.

These are speakers designed for music - will you use the replacements as a stereo pair for music or will it be for AV use only.

Finally, what is your budget?

Sorry for answering a question with questions but it's impossible to make a recommendation without being in possession of all the facts.

Go along to somewhere like Richer Sounds and see what they can demo you... I think you can even take along your kit and compare (if you arrange it in advance).

I'm currently using a 1975 pair of B&W speakers for my fronts. They beat my Panasonic system speakers into a cocked hat (IMO) for music but for surround film & normal TV the originals were fine.

Still using a pair of Goodmans Maxim 3's for my rear pair that I bought in 1993. I think the fronts are B&W's I was given for a job I did for a hi-fi shop.

If I retire anything I keep them for other rooms. One day the kids might appreciate some old hifi instead of their ipod docks.
