I find Kara more engaging than Ali and so far she's not been over-hyped and over-marked like Ali was.

If anything, Kara's progress is reminding me a little of Rachel Stevens' who didn't really break through until the Rhumba.

LOL, I'll protect you if you protect me - safety in numbers and all that.

Kara has in fact been under-marked IMO, Sid.

They really were only little glimmers of similarity, but I fully agree with you about her likeness to Rachel too.

At the mo I'd love a Kara, Matt and Scott final.

In my humble opinion, four 8s from the judges was just ridiculous. It was the music that sapped the routine of that extra va-voom and injection of fun that it was lacking a bit. It's very hard to sell a dance when the music is all wrong, and I felt that number just wasn't right for the Charleston.

I thought Kara did wonderfully well, though. Very technical routine and her timing was almost perfect. I'll agree that Matt's was more fun, but I find Matt & Aliona a little offputting - I appreciate all the hard work they do, but Matt just has a very sweaty, trying-too-hard vibe that he projects... sorry, don't mean to upset their fans. They're great to watch, but he seems to take it all a tad too seriously.

I definitely think she was over marked. As the OP says can't remember anything about it now only her outfit. To me it bordered on tedious. She seems a cold customer - no warmth or vitality in there at all.

Every year, good technical female contestants get this "cold" image. Quite odd.

Kara's in with a really good chance at winning, IMO. She can do ballroom and latin.

I loved her Charleston though, and really hope that the dream I had last night in which she was eliminated wasn't a premonition. I was so convinced she really had gone I almost snuck a peek in the spoiler thread!”

I see the Ali resemblance too

Except Kara can do both genres of dance without being D-U-L-L. Dull.

I quite agree. Would like to think that Kara and Artem will get to the final.

I agree too. These parallels I saw with Ali were teeny!

I'd love her to be in the final too, janemarie.

To be fair, I do slightly agree.

Ali didn't ever really wow me until her first American Smooth which was what, week 6/7? Except in Ali's case the judges hyped/praised her to the extent where she began to 'get on my wick', whereas I don't think Kara will ever get praise until she really deserves it. Which is a good thing, in a way .

*Applauds* Spot on - the same thing happened with Rachel Stevens and Ali Bastian. I blush to say that I fell into that trap with Rachel and just didn't warm to her throughout the series, while I firmly pushed such negative thoughts to one side with Ali and enjoyed her dances with Brian (she was my favourite to win).

I thought it was bold of the choreographer to give Kara and Artem that whole Cotton Club jazz routine and they were probably the only couple doing the Charleston yesterday who could have pulled it off, but it did put them at a disadvantage with the GBP when viewed against the cheeky Charlestons. However, I was disappointed that the judges fell into that trap.

Couldnt disagree more...I thought that she was very switched on and in the performance, I appreciated the actual dancing that was looking effortless (usually intimating a high level of ability) and she was clearly enjoying herself;a point that she confirmed to Tess after the judges comments.

Not everyone has the same reaction and to use your own point, boredom is a reaction, no?

Kara - great dancer, not showing personality yet.
I seem to remember Rachel Stevens doing technically excellent dances which didn't have the wow factor, until that amazing Rumba. Hope Kara will show more spark, but I really enjoy her dances anyway, whatever she does.

I love Kara and think her charleston was the best of the night but it was too slow which meant it lacked something.

That was entirely down to Robin's choice of music and choreography. On ITT Kara even said she was finding it slow to dance! That should have set alarm bells off!

I thought that all of his gimmicks detracted from the dance. Apparently Len found Ann's harness entertaining too - who needs good dancing when you have cheap gimmicks?

Yes, I love Kara's Charleston, and thought her position in the leaderboard should be swapped with Pam.
