iPhone sales overtake Blackberry sales...

...and there more here http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11597782

Quote:
“Smartphone sales have risen 78% since a year ago, with sales of Apple's iPhone overtaking RIM's BlackBerry, according to Strategy Analytics.

Apple sold 14.1 million iPhones while RIM sold 12.4 million BlackBerry phones during the July to September quarter.”

Whilst Nokia still remained the largest seller of mobiles with 26.5 million handsets being sold, they should not be complacement given the success of the iPhone and Android mobiles.

Nokia are still in the market because they still produce basic normal mobile phones... The kind that my Mum and Dad uses. That's not a dig at them, but its true. But apparently the N8 is a very good smart phone and a step up for the symbian OS... So maybe they'll finally arrive on the smart phone market.

Isn't it the last high-end Symbian phone from Nokia? The rest of the N series is going to be MeeGo now.

Does Nokia have another high-end consumer smartphone series?

that's just a rumour. of which there are many. the to go meego or to not meego keeps cropping up. but the analyst i spoke to thinks that it will be S^4 for the high end for the generation after the N8 et al. Certainly symbian would seem to be an odd choice to me for low to mid range phones.

That's from Nokia themselves rather than rumour or analysis.

The E series of QWERTY phones are nice and better sellers than the N series. I got a Nokia E72 due to better reviews than the Blackberry Bold. Build quality in particular is a lot better.

Symbian is useful, but not very pretty or intuitive.
