Like some on this thread, I enjoy his dry sense of humour. So what if he thinks he's good-looking and isn't used to being mediocre? There's enough false modesty in the world, and on SCD! I admire that Gavin is taking ownership for his failings on ITT, trying his best for Katya and coming back every week with renewed determination. These contestants can't all be naturally great on the dancefloor, and if he turns out to be a truly dud dancer, at least he knows he gave it a good shot and did it in good humour and with grace

At first I thought he was putting on an arrogant front to cover up his shyness, but now I realise it's the other way round.

Awful contestant. His reaction to the "harsh" comments / marking will be sure to get him the "aww" vote.

He's very competitive in 71 Degrees North but his comments are tongue-in-cheek just like in SCD. He's also very fair in his comments on 71DN and gives credit to his team mates and votes for who he thinks is weakest not for who is his nearest competitor.

The "Welsh vote" is a well know phenomenon in such programmes (remember Joe Calzaghe?), but if you'd like to have wave a proxy placard at me on their behalf then feel free.

Having been a fan of Rugby Union for more years than I'm going to admit, I have found him to be far from a team player, more of a glory seeker.

TBH, I haven't seen anything of him on SCD to change my view.

Harsh, yes, but that is my perception.

I don't think Gavin has the Welsh vote - well certainly not in rugby circles where to some his name is as muddy as the pitch he runs around on.

No - I think his appeal lies in his dry sense of humour.

Many are not sure whether he's speaking from vanity or self deprecation. I think a little of both, but mostly the latter. There's no doubt he is competitive and as an international sportsman used to being at the top of his game he would love to be up there with Scott and Matt, but knows it's not likely to happen hence he resorts to tongue in cheek banter.

I quite like him to be honest , I ddnt think I would , but in the whole time on the show I have seen nothing to dislike .
So ,No he is not unlikable . He may be unliked by some , that s a very different scenario .”

Of course its MO, that is what the thread asked for and that is what I think about him.

Like I said, I find him arrogant to the extreme, harping on all week about being better looking and fitter than Scott and Matt and that the tango was his dance - he's no where near as good as them and he made himself look an idiot for saying all that.

I don't like him, its my opinion of him, however, I would rather Ann went out before him.

Something he admitted when talking to Tess - he's pretty self aware imo.

I think all the talking up this week was an attempt to rid himself of the self-consciousness and feeling of being out of his depth, as a teacher (albeit not of dance) it's a familiar scenario with some learners. In practice I really thought he looked like he was going to nail the tango, but once again when he came to do it for real it all went a bit haywire, and he ended up going back to the awkwardness. Assuming he's still in (waiting for results show later!)I am trying to think of a dance that he might be able to cope with and not feel awkward about, another ballroom one or maybe the jive, he might then do better performance-wise even if not great technically.

Gavin Henson has the charisma of a dead sheep! What Charlotte ever saw in him defies understanding.
He tries hard with his dancing, fair play, and he remembers his steps..............but his body is so stiff! Trouble is, he is so full of his perception of his good looks and ability, it comes as such a surprise to him, that he gets slated.
The sooner he goes the better. Two weeks down the line it'll be "Gavin ...who??

Gavin does not have inflated ideas about his ability - quite the reverse he readily acknowledges he needs to improve.

He'd just like to be better - and surely that is something they all aspire to.

Then turn your tv off !!

I couldnt agree more. He is actually trying to dance. The better dancers have been excellent from the start. He is definitely at a disadvantage but we have seen much worse and some have even got to the final. I think he is improving,,slowly but isnt that was strictly is all about.

Why? I like the show and there are people I would like to see. I want him gone that's all. I'm sure there are people you don't like on the show.

Gavin is a dull fart. you'd find more charisma on a mortuary slab. Having said that i didn't think this week's tango was too bad, but i am sick of his crushed little face, as if his gigantic "i am so good looking how can anything go wrong" ego can't cope with a bit of constructive criticism.

you are not that pretty Gavin

I like him a lot, I could be wrong but he comes across as a good guy and its hard to work him out/suss him because he is quiet and holds a lot in.

I hope he stays for ages and btw, I'm a hetro sexual male. I say that as someone thought I fancied him on another thread!

Maybe an acting coach could help. Maybe he just has to realise you can't be good at everything.”

I think I agree with you.

Some people see him as 'not serious' 'dry sense of humour', I'm not sure about this yet. I think he really does think he should be good, as you say.

I am willing to change my mind about it, but at the moment he seems delusional, to be kind about it. And he dances really badly too.

I'm Welsh and he certainly hasn't had my vote. But, I agree with your post. I've seen a far more humble side to him than is normally portrayed here in Wales.

He's definitely a Marmite character.

I love him. I love his humour and honesty, him saying whatever comes into his head. It's refreshing compared to the other contestants who keep spouting the 'LOOK HOW MUCH FUN WE'RE HAVING! WE'RE LOVING IT!' LINE.

Everyone whose opinions I value, who know him personally, say he's a quiet and hard-working. I value this higher than people who've only ever seen him on tv or in the tabloids.

Yes, having watched Charlotte on Graham Norton's show on Friday, I can't help feeling that she's dodged a bullet there. Gavin really is a bit of a plank - bit like David Beckham's brain without the good looks and nice personality.

Completely agree. I though he would be a cocky git, but he comes across as quite shy and hard on himself. I like him...but rubbish dancer
