I don't think that's the issue.

I have all my apps on the Desire HD installed on the phone's memory only and I refuse to install apps to the SD because of the problems it causes (luckily I have 1.2 gig to install apps on the phone unlike my previous Desire). I had this problem with the market recently and as I don't have any apps installed on the SD at all I know that's not the cause of the problem for me.

I had issues earlier today however I went to the apps menu and did a 'force stop' on it before reloading it. It worked fine from then on.

Can't download a thing now, even the old trick of re-trying isn't working

Yep, same here

Force Stop - Done
Clear Cache - Done
Reboot - Done

Still can't download anything from the market again.

I suspect with the speed that Android is starting to take off that the Google servers are unable to keep up with demand and it's causing these drop outs for many of us.

True, in fairness I never had a problem with the Apple App store and it was a better offering.

Also Google have broken the AAC+ codec when trying to implement some new feature, which means one of the most advanced audio codecs sounds like sh*t on Android. They really need to fix that and get it rolled out to all Android devices as it's a real let down for me.

I couldn't get anything to download last night, but had no problem at 8 am this morning.

More than likely a mix of problems with some being from your mobile network.

The problems yesterday was an Android market issue. AndroidDev have been tweeting about it.

I'm having similar problems tonight. Some things will download, most won't. This is with an HTC Wildfire on Three.

Damn all downloading here, it goes downloading, then attempts then just stops. I am getting sick of this now. Why is this happening?

All games?

There is little of note beyond 'passing the time of day' to download

Similar here, but it does take a *lot* of attempts at times. Damnably irritating.

With all these Network down posts it would be sensible for Google to post a status log per region.

Mobile networks themselves may even be using download disablement as temporary solutions for bandwidth problems.
If so one can be certain that iWosit users are getting the benefit from Steve Jobs and his no doubt watertight contracts.

More likely its a google problem. Non dramatic to me in that it gets there in the end.
