In the case of Ann it is Len who sadley ignores the need to judge on dance and improvement week on week
He calls the Ann efforts "entertaining" and if that is really how he feels he should get out more often
But the beeb have again ripped off dance fans with this "Ann must be front page" rubbish
Len this has to be the last dance hotel for Ann

Ann was asked to do the show when they knew she couldnt dance, she deserves her place as much as anyone else, the winner last year couldnt dance either.

Ann is ruining this year's series for me. I don't mind a bad dancer with a bit of personality doing well because they're trying and produce some entertaining stuff on the dance floor, I don't even mind if they end up knocking out someone ok at dancing but dull.

What I do mind is that her presence on the show is completely contrived and manipulated by the producers in the name of creating a bit of publicity for the show. I know there is always an element of manipulation but this just feels like a few steps too far for me.

Fans will revolt anyway and yes I do agree with Craig.

Ann was funny in week 1 for me the novelty has well and truly worn off she is'nt even trying to learn to dance unlike the likes of Gavin and Michelle who deserve to stay longer than Ann.I am with Craig it is time for Ann to go now.

It might be acceptable for Ann to stay in a while longer if she was genuinely funny and entertaining. As she isn't, I agree that she should go for an early bath.

If Craig keeps mentioning Ann and saying she should leave, she'll never leave lol. I don't really know why people think it was going to be any different it was obvious she weren't going anywhere for a while. Ann will last another couple of weeks imo, I doubt she'll last as long as JS.

Anne is entertaining, but this is still a dance show, her antipathy to learning what the Professional wants to teach her, in favour of what she is prepared to do grates.

He didn't moan. He was asked by Tess if the bottom two was the right result. As a judge, he is bound to want the worst two dancers in the bottom two. Ann is one of the worst two dancers so it was entirely predictable that he would say that tonight's bottom two was not correct. If the production team don't want him to say so then they should avoid asking him a question to which the answer is so bleedin' obvious!

I have had a thought. What would happen if she refuses to do latin? Anton is not the best latin dancer so it will go from bad to worse. Hope she resigns.

Craig rightly said that he has to wave the dance flag. He is paid to judge and critique the dancing.

What should he do instead? Say she's a brilliant dancer and give her 10s. (the way Len is going he will be getting out his 10 paddle for her soon )

Just as you are entitled to vote for whoever you want, Craig is entitled to his views.

I agree with Craig Daaaaarrrrling.

She is a dreadful woman who should have gone way before now.

When Craig was asked if he thought the right couples were in the bottom 2, he had to say no, and that Ann should have been alongside Peter. Having given her a 3 it would have been hypocritical of him to say anything else.

And 3 was about right, the higher marks were farcical.

I'm not quite sure the 'hippo' remark was quite called for, but Ann will give him as good as she gets, and sometimes gets her comments in before him!

Any reference to hippos has to be taken in context. Ann did herself say something about elephants flying

I have mixed feelings re Anne. I was glad to see her name appearing in this year's show and she's been good for a laugh and also tried her best to dance at the same time. That's what contestants are SUPPOSED TO DO - try their hardest to dance. Whether or not it's to your taste or mine is irrelevant, she's doing what the show is asking of her. If it was all about getting in dancers who go for straight tens, it wouldn't be an entertainment programme, would it? I'm sick of the judges making stupid, childish remarks at contestants. I have NO PROBLEM with them criticising to their hearts content about how wrong they perceive a performance to be but for god's sake, why can't they be professional and stick to comments on the performance rather than personal insults? It's getting tiring and sometimes, for me, uncomfortable to watch. Bruno & Craig especially.

I love watching the good dancers make a good performance, it's so enjoyable, but I also don't care if Anne stays in until the final if she's still actually trying her hardest to dance the routines they're giving her. When she stops doing that (a la week two) then it'll be time for her to go.

I'm with Ianswaiting and Kaycee- Craig answered a direct question with the obvious answer. He wasn't asked if it was the bottom two that he, as a viewer, would have wanted. He at no point said that he wanted Ann gone, actually, he just re-iterated that she was the other person in the judges' bottom two so, as the second worst dancer of the night, she ought to have been down there with Peter. As Michelle was marked fourth from bottom, it's pretty obvious that the judges' didn't think she was the worst or second worst dancer of the night. Really what else could he have said? "Yes Tess, I do agree with the bottom two. Oh, I know I didn't mark it that way but well, Ann's brilliant, isn't she? And poor Gavin, I just felt so sorry for him that I got all my friends to powervote just to counteract my low score. Didn't so much care about Michelle, though, she's a bit dull. I think it's great that she's in the bottom two with Peter."

You're right, I'd forgotten about that. I remembered her getting a comment in first, but forgot what she actually said!

As I posted on another thread today, some people seem to be missing the whole point of the hippo comment. It's a reference to this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEjPDS8Jp1E

Craig was commenting on gracefulness of airborne Ann - as opposed to what happened when she started to 'dance' ...

I'm sure Craig is being directed to criticise Ann to ensure her survival all the way through to the final. This is clearly the producers' aim - otherwise why is she the subject of more hype from the show than all the other contestants put together?

It is the John Seargent scenario all over again where Strictly becomes a laughing stock at the expense of other "more serious" celebrities. I don't get it. Of course the cynic in me says that this could all be contrived to get some headlines against X factor.
Is Craig right? I don't know, depends what the BBC thinks it is providing each week, a dance competition or entertainment. Ann certainly fits in the latter.”

Sometimes these campaigns can gather pace.I think the reason JS pulled out was mainly because he was tipped to win it so dont rule out the Tory vote to help Ann along

It was a bit pointless asking Craig who he wanted in the bottom two. It was obviously the two couples he scored the lowest!

I think the producers need to be careful about the way Tess's questions are worded. The judges have already had their say in the first show. If they are then encouraged to criticise how the audience votes, it will only get a lot of viewer's backs up.

The saying "Don't ask the question if you don't want the answer springs to mind". Tess asked Craig because she knew he would be honest. She asked Bruno more or less the same question but he skated round it by saying Michelle had improved from last week instead of saying he was surprised that she was in the last two.
However I must say Anne does win points in my book if only because she knows she's a bad dancer and doesn't constantly beg the (multiple phone voting) public to vote her back

Agree. I thought the judges had learnt that lesson this year . Best for the judges not to say anything about the public vote, otherwise they will get a big backlash and she will remain in.

Dancing badly and getting your retaliation in first has to have a shelf life, no matter how much the public find her entertaining and a good sort. Surely we cannot be expected to watch her for another few weeks, possibly going on to the final stage and winning. Anne is not like John Serjeant she will never resign. Are the ratings a lot higher this year, genuine question? There is hardly any (sometimes none at all) overlap with the X Factor, they were going to be higher anyway so why so much attention on Anne?

Do check out Servalan's link (#44). I don't think Craig was insulting Ann with his Flying Hippos remark, he was insulting the hippos! And the producers were imho insulting us when they showed us Anton twirling around for 20 seconds while someone got Ann out of her truss.

But at least Ann's hairdo suited her better and she should stick with it.

Only a mass desertion by fair-minded viewers at the quarter-final stage when Ann is still in will convince the Beeb they've pulled one stunt too many, I'm afraid.
