Why on earth would you or anyone for that matter want Anne in the final or anywhere near it?

Some people have absolutely no taste when it comes to entertainment

Craig was commenting on gracefulness of airborne Ann - as opposed to what happened when she started to 'dance' ...

I'm sure Craig is being directed to criticise Ann to ensure her survival all the way through to the final. This is clearly the producers' aim - otherwise why is she the subject of more hype from the show than all the other contestants put together? ”

Not all of us are of the age to watch disney cartoon films so would hardly be aware of the dancing hippo thingy. And I already said above that I'd forgotten her own comment regarding flying elephants.

No one would direct Craig on how to criticise anyone - he's too much his own person. And if she is the subject of hype than all the other contestants put together (is she?) it's probably because she is so awful - but in fairness, unlike John Sergeant, she has at least got personality & is not self-deluded.

It is the John Seargent scenario all over again where Strictly becomes a laughing stock at the expense of other "more serious" celebrities. I don't get it. Of course the cynic in me says that this could all be contrived to get some headlines against X factor.
Is Craig right? I don't know, depends what the BBC thinks it is providing each week, a dance competition or entertainment. Ann certainly fits in the latter.”

Off the top of my head, because she was actually approached by the Producers.
They agreed to her contractual requirments and are paying her to appear.
They also seem to be agreeing to what happens in her routines 'cos that harness didn't just appear from nowhere.

Craig wanted Paul out & got his way, and now has his sights set on Ann, someone needs to remind him that this is a Saturday night light entertainment show not a competition, and the public want to sit down & watch Ann perform every week, she is the star of the show, thats why they put her on towards the end, to stop people switching off after they have watched Ann & Anton perform.

I'm half expecting the introduction of a drum role for Ann's pre-rehearsed ripostes to the judges comments

Disney films of a certain era are widely considered classics and Fantasia is very much one of them. They transcend barriers like age and Fantasia is far from being a children's movie. If you've never seen it, fine - but millions have. I'd fully recommend it - it's unique.

I agree Craig is the least susceptible to the producers' dictats but he will play ball (Snowdonia, Matt di Angelo's 'perfect' waltz).

I was no fan of JS but he had as much personality as Ann. Nor did I ever see him as deluded: he never saw himself as a dancer and any indication of that was a wind-up act. Ann has been hired to replicate his impact on the show and is being given undue prominence. No other contestant gets the build-up she does, nor staged 'leaks' about her routine.

It's now looking likely that Michelle will be the next to leave, which I don't think will trouble many people. However, if the likes of Patsy, Felicity and Jimi fall victim to the overhyped Ann, we will end up with Sergeantgate 2. Just what Strictly needed ...

Look at The X factor, Wagner still there !!!

I really hate it when people make remarks such as that
It's like someone saying, they don't know a song at all, because it came out before they were born.
So do these people only watch films, and listen to music, or even read books that have been produced since the date of their birth? How very limiting for them.
Most of my favourite music, and quite a few of my fave movies, came out way before I was born, and most of the disney classic films I have seen, did so too. Also, that particular clip from Fantasia has been shown on many occasions on T.V.

I miss the pink on this forum! Now it is blue like everywhere else and has an air of seriousness that wasn't there before. On Anne. I am not sick of her yet and she did do better than Peter who was so dire and could hardly coordinate his movements, so I'm glad she's there for now. I can see people will tire of her very soon though. If Craig wants her to go he need not to show it so much and she will.

I don't think he'd try to manipulate people into voting against her. He tells his opinion and if people are going to vote to spite him they will get what they deserve/want.

I cannot believe you really want that

Brighton, I do so agree with you. On another thread someone has described Ann as "fabulous entertainment"

If people do keep voting for her and if she reaches the final it will be the end of Strictly

How come? If people vote her to the final (doubtful) then presumably they want her there. Why would that be the end of SCD? Might drive a few dance enthusiasts away but would bring huge publicity and lots of fun to those who regard the programme as just a bit of entertainment and why not!

Better than the dull Gavin for a start.

The new producers of SCD are desparate for headlines and column inches and any kind of controversy to keep people talking about the show.
AW was specially asked to take part to provide this controversy and talking point. The GBP seem to falling for their plan so far.

To be fair, that isn't very difficult. It's a given that Anne wasn't going to be a good dancer, but she is not that entertaining either. Those that are allowing themselves to be manipulated into voting for her to stay in, have more money than sense!

I agree with Craig, on dancing ability Ann should be the next to leave, but he needs to learn from previous series and not say it quite so forcefully or too often or the GBP will vote to keep her in for much longer than she should stay, after all no-one likes being told how they should vote!

All these Reality Shows where the result depends on viewers voting are there to manipulate people into spending their money. For me, those who spend money voting have more money than sense, but, each to their own.

They re-released Fantasia some 10 or so years ago. So not so ancient.

Must admit to being very fed up with the obvious favouritism given to Ann & Anton with their routines always being shown last or nearly last.

Not sure what show you are watching, but the one I'm watching is a competition, and the best dancers are meant to get the highest marks; and the worst dancers are meant to get the lowest marks. Or perhaps you think Ann should get 10s and Scott etc should get 1s????

I actually meant that some of us might be too old to watch cartoons not too young!

This member of the public doesn't sit down and watch Ann and Anton - she makes a cup of tea, goes to the loo, anything but watch the two As!

TerryM22, and gibletjohn from the " We Lurve Ann " fan club - this is a dancing competition, and she is going to spoil this show for all the dancers who will go out before her despite being miles better and getting higher scores! Real fans of this show do not want that even if you think it's o.k.

Craig is bound to want the best dancers to stay in and Ann will never be that. It doesn't mean that Craig doesn't like her or doesn't find her routines amusing.

Ann will go soon enough, once the competition starts to get really serious.

Here here!

I blame the producers however, because they know things like this will happen and it's no surprise that she was put with Anton Du Beke to up the 'entertainment' factor!

I wonder how many, viewers have been gained via the Ann factor who otherwise wouldn't have related to anything in the programme. The producers probably would be happy about getting extra viewers so I feel as if complaining would be like throwing snowballs at the moon. Ah well...
