The only problem I have is if any other dancer did that routine they would have been slated by Len and the rest for not anough content. Len gave her a 7 didn';t he?!

The thing is I doubt she's topping the votes, I think that'll probably be Scott.

...and after a certain number of people have gone in order to remain out of the bottom two won't she need to top the votes?

yes, absolutely. She won't make the final, but she's got a few weeks left, I think.

I just think of it as a competition having X number of people in it ( i.e. the number that excludes Ann) and therefore the week she does go will be a week where no-one is eliminated. Given that there is no dance off any more, and so the public have more of the say, I think that if someone goes one week when Ann doesn't, it's quite likely that person would go the next week anyway, so Ann is only stopping them from an extra week, so I don't think it is too bad.

I'm not a supporter of Ann - I thought I would like her, and while she has improved, her attitude of not really wanting to learn the dances properly or get into the spirit did annoy me. It's like she is treating it as an experiment of how long the public will keep her in for - as opposed to trying to get as far as he can in a dance competition.

She isn't going to be more popular than the big 4 of Matt, Pamela, Kara and Scott (in order of personal preference), but after that I reckon she could probably win a popularity contest with any of the others left in.

Now that Shilton's gone the judges really can't justify giving anybody a worse score than Ann, so she'll have to hope the public really do keep on side with her for a bit longer.

Three weeks might not be far off as long as she can keep the element of surprise up a bit. Michelle and Gavin are much less visible and much more mid-card than Ann, so they're probably more vulnerable. Notice even a 'sympathy score' from the judges this week couldn't keep Michelle out of the bottom two.

I doubt she'll quit but it would not surprise me to see Michelle and Gavin go before she does.

It's not stopping out the bottom 2 that's the issue though. It's just making sure that she is not dead last on combined total and this is where it all depends where the rest of the public votes go on any specific week.

Say, 5 people left including Ann - who is bottom of the board.

1st with judges = 5
2nd = 4
3rd = 3
4th = 2
5th = 1

For arguments sake 4th on the board gets top marks with the public, that gives them 7 points.

Ann, or bottom - manages 2nd on public vote and gets 5 points. Top on leader board gets third and 3 points, Third placed comes 4th on pv, giving 5 points and secnd on leader board gets one point for last on pv.

Three couples on 5 marks in total. Bottom and third placed couple stay as position on public vote is the deciding factor and 2nd placed couple goes.

It's the all depends factor that gave us Chris Parker and Julian Clary as finalists.

I can see her bringing down any combination of Jimi/Patsy/Tina as well, at the very least.

Which, to me, is fine as I would much prefer to see Ann dance that Gavin.

Will there be a dance off later in the series? I think maybe next week or the week after she'll be on her monocycle homeward bound. I initially liked the idea of her being the pantomime act but I don't really think she's making it as much fun as it should be for entertainment value. I doubt the GPB will allow her to stay over 'proper' dancers.

She'll make Blackpool.

Why not?
The GPB put Chris Parker and Julian Clary through the the final in previous years, and kept John Sargent out of the bottom 2 for about 10 weeks.

Christopher Parker I can see, but I don't think Julian Clary is at all a fair comparison. Before the final, Julian was only bottom with the judges once, and his public vote was also low enough to put him in the bottom 2 twice. He went to the final on a combination of judges and the public, not being dragged there solely by the public, like Chris was and Ann would be.

Ann is providing fabulous entertainment, is training hard and improving all the time, she deserves a place in the final, thats what light entertainment is all about.

Yeah, fair point, that's true ... perhaps Kate Garraway or Kenny Logan would have been better. Didn't make the final but got to weeks 7 and 9, in the same series, by taking out the 'better' dancers.

But these two were avoiding the dreaded dance off, where Chris & Julian are based on a similar voting system to this year.

i reckon michelle will go
then patsy
then a shock elimination of one of the good dancers which will lead to abit of a backlash
then she'll go

I think you're right. She's in it to win it.
I hadn't thought of this (straight from the Beeb website):

Quote:
“The Grand Final of Strictly Come Dancing 2010 will be on Saturday 18th December. The remaining couples will all dance again but this time the judges' comments will be for reference only. The Champions of Strictly Come Dancing 2010 will be decided purely by the public vote. Instructions for voting in the Final will be confirmed nearer the time.”

Therefore, if she will make it to the final, it must be on huge popularity. Enough to allow her to lift the mirror ball trophy.
Anton will be over the moon, who would have thought.

I think Michelle and Gavin will go then finally Anne, bless her

For the last 2 weeks, the couple who were bottom with the judges went. I think the lack of a dance-off has meant more people are thinking about who they want to vote for without any "the judges will save them anyway" reasoning, so I wouldn't be surprised if there is a larger shift of votes towards the better dancers this year.

When will Anne go? I have no idea. But she will go.

All no dance off means really is that you only have to keep your favourite from being dead last.

People are voting for the bottom of the board, as can be seen by the fact the bottom 2 choice isn't the bottom 2 on the leader board, and a person at the bottom of the board who hasn't connected with the voters in great enough numbers is always going to be vunerable.

This Saturday will really be the first indication of where the votes are going. The numbers are dropping enough to make the middle of the leader board feel uneasy about the public popularity of the couples below them.

If you consider what we saw on Saturday from Ann to be "fabulous entertainment" .............. well you have left me speechless.

If John Sergeant is any kind of useful guide, then there is a real possibility that Ann could indeed make the final and win. Apparently, he was so far ahead in the voting (if you believe the leaked voting patterns) that despite almost pleading with the GBP to leave (he lost the weight he wanted to and did a 'farewell' type dance) they still carried on voting for him. There were rumours of voting syndicates as well but I don't know how true the rumours were.

Before last year I would have been up in arms about it, but after Chris won I stopped taking the show seriously. If Ann wins then Ann wins. The show lost it's 'serious' credibility a long time ago and it is just a bit of light Saturday night entertainment.

I would imagine Matt is more popular than Scott but that's just me having an educated guess.

As someone who adored John and Kristina and voted for in the first 3 weeks......even though I liked them I did eventually tire of it all and stopped voting for them. I have not voted for Ann even though she and Anton do make me laugh each week. I firmly believe that John would not have won as once the numbers fell he would not have been able to avoid the dance off for ever even with top vote and then he would have gone, the same thing would have happened to Chris in the semi final last year if the BBC had not realised that the judges would be getting rid of the person who was the publics favourite to win. Ofcourse with no dance off this year we have no safety net like this (if you think its required ofcourse). Personally I dont think Ann will get anywhere near the final but if she does then thats what the viewing public want and so be it.

Of course she does not deserve a place in the final. She is not working any harder than anyone else and the results are more laughable than entertaining. Anton's comedy latin routines also need to be seen for the rubbish that they are. By all means let her go after tottering Michelle and the wooden Henson, but any longer and she will more than have outstayed her welcome.
