Well, some of us suspect that given the judges are seeing the dances in rehearsals that their responses are scripted even BEFORE the dances have been performed on the live show.

I have PROOF of this from Sat 23rd Oct's show.

After kara's Charleston Brucie calls for a 1st response to the dance from Bruno.

(See iPlayer 1.24.40)

he says "... put more welly in as Len says"

Then look at Len's response (slight roll of the eyes) Then another judge comments... then....

(Then go to iPlayer 1.26.20)
Lens response: Put some more Welly into it!

.... OOOOPS Brucie!! Went to Bruno first by mistake!!!

Not necessarily, he could just mean "as Len says, put some welly into it", i.e. borrowing one of Len's phrases. Thankfully not pickling his walnuts.

Besides, I'm sure they don't script in Alesha's "you was".

It doesn't prove anything. Len is always telling people to put more welly into it so Bruno stealing his expression doesn't mean anything.

Not really a continuity error, but I take the OP's point that there's a certain pre-judging going on. Craig said that he couldn't ever give Ann more than 3. What happens in the - admittedly unlikely - event that she morphs into Tina Sparkle by week 6?

I dont think that was a coincidence at all!

Bruno was just quoting one of Len's 'sayings'

I noticed it when watching today - looked to me as if Len had made that point during the rehearsals and Bruno had agreed at the time but not realised he'd be first up on the live show.

Yes he has said it a fair amount and remember Bruno listens to Lens drivel on DWTS aswell and Len says all the same things on that too.

OP I think that the saying is one Len uses a lot and so was just a coincidence. Also the bib can't imagine this happening either thank god (but I can still see her being here in week 6 ) but if she were to become tina sparkle by then I do think Craig would reflect this is his mark (he's usually closest with his marking).

Lol, that's not proof of anything. Len would have said that because Bruno mentioned it being something Len would say lol.

I think you're overthinking it.
I believe the judges take their own notes and "put some welly in it" is something Len would say. If they were trying to hide it was scripted Len wouldn't have repeated the phrase but repeated it for humour.

PROOF?
The only proof is that you are mad starting a thread like this.

I immediately noticed the same, but I couldn't decide if it was a scripted response or just Bruno's poor grammar i.e. "as Len says" instead of "as Len would say". Though he does often use the format "as X says" to refer to comments just made by one of the other judges so...

It is scripted.

The show's run through on a Saturday afternoon is used for the judges to write their comments so they have something to say on the night. These are then looked at to ensure that there isn't anything that would need to be censored out.

I know this because my English lecturer worked at SCD and was telling us how they leave in Alesha's 'like' and 'was' to make it sound more real but it is indeed planned before.

Wonderful thread. This is how conspiracy theories start.

Of course it's all scripted - and the reason Arlene had to leave was because, despite numerous attempts at it, she just couldn't pronounce the word "ledge" properly.

But there are two separate issues there:

1. Do judges plan their own comments based on what they see in rehearsals?

2. Are the judges told what to say by the show's producers?

It's 2 that would normally be called "scripted", and it's 2 that your evidence (that you see as proof) is about.

And 2, if true, would kill the show. The anti-BBC press would be all over it, the government's in a mood to listen, and SCD is the sort of show the anti-BBC types would claim the commercial broadcasters can do at least as well, so that the BBC shouldn't be making it.

well of course they see the dances in the dress rehearsals, Claudia said so in last years It Takes Two so they obviously mark and write little bits from that. i didnt think it was a secret its blatantly obvious, i remember last year someone making an error and Bruno had already told the bbc his mark on the Friday and it couldnt be changed

What I thought didn't sit right was when they asked Michelle and Peter why they want to stay in the competition and they were dressed in their normal clothes. Peter said I'm in the bottom two again .

We've done this so many times enough before.

It's blindin'ly obvious that none of judges are erudite enough to immediately come out with half of their post-performance comments, particularly those with a lot of alliteration.

As the comedian Jerry Lewis once said; "You can't beat a bit of carefully rehearsed spontaneity."

Even then some of them occasionally stumble over some of their (own?) scripted words.

It's a show!

I tink that if one of the celebs ate two burgers in a lunch break and the professional commented on it, the judges would be bringing it up for the next twelve weeks.

Yes. Len has used this phrase a number of times in the past. Bruno then quotes it. Len, seeing a reasonable opportunity to use the phrase again also adds it to his comments, knowing that it is also "of the moment".

No scripting, no conspiracy.

Indeed, I often find (note: a personal perspective) that when a thread title contain the word "PROOF" (or "PROOVES") in uppercase, then one thing that can be certain is that proof it is not.

when i sat in on a dress rehersal the judges weren't present, also on ITT it has been said by the judges that they don't watch the rehersals
