Are Female Celebs The Stronger Dancers?
Red Whine
25-10-2010
Are the female celebs better dancers than the males this year? The 3 celebs who have been voted off so far are all male.
I know the girls have an advantage because they are 'led' by the male pro's rather than having to lead as the male celebs have to do.
I know there are some strong male dancers they are the ones left, but it does seem funny to lose more boys than girls in the early stages of the competition this year.

I think of the men eliminated only Goldie had any potential whereas all the girls (bar Ann) were better than Peter so I dont think we can say anything difinitively yet. I think the male/female strength in depth is pretty even this year

They've still got one more elimination to go to match Series 3, where the first 4 eliminees were all female.

I think the men have suffered so far because Goldie is outside the show's demographic, and generally, John Sergeant apart, older men struggle to progress more than older women do. Gavin might go soon, but I'd bet that him aside, the next 5 or 6 elimination will all be women.

In series 6, it seemed like Austin and Tom were the only 2 males left in for much of the run, (discounting JS) and checking back, by week 8 that is the case with John withdrawing the following week.

The only reason that women were eliminated weeks 2 and 4 is that there were women only competing those weeks - Heather was the next female to go in week 8.

More of the weaker dancers are male but more of the middle range are female. The top end is evenly spread.

Yes, the males have to lead but it's balanced out in the fact that generally the females get more steps and they're generally more difficult. At least that's the way it is in my dance class.

So far this year I think it's quite equal. Of the four best dancers, two are male and two are female.

I agree, providing no celeb goes out due to injury or for non-dance related reasons, it could be a tightly fought final.

Interesting fact.

I was going to say that usually its the guys who tend to go first as its easier for the celeb women to follow. Thought this year it was more evenly spread but I do think that possibly the next 3 or 4 to go will be the women (out of Michelle, Patsy, Tina, Felicity and hopefully Ann). I think Gavin will be the next bloke to go but possibly not for a couple of weeks.

But the ones who get voted out early aren't necessarily the weaker dancers. I mean, Goldie was mid-table.

Well, the stats show that over the 4 weeks Pamela has 132 points. Ssssssscottttttt has 130. Matt 128 and Kara 125. Forget the rest. There's a huge gap to Jimi on 108.

So it's even Stephen.

We need to see how well Scott copes with the range of Latin dances. If he does them well it is very difficult see beyond a Matt vs. Scott final. Jordan will drop a brick sooner or later as he did with the Mangeress. Kara is a very good dancer but won't have the personality to connect with the bulk of the audience. Already the Artem and Kara are really hot line peddled by the producers is running out of steam and won't last the course.

Matt has a big following on here. Scott and Kara seem to be level-pegging in terms of popularity at the moment. I think Pam's star is waning a little and she does attract quite a few who strongly DISlike her. So I don't see Pam winning.

I could easily see Matt and Scott as the final 2.

I think Pamela has shifted the balance slightly. She has proved to be far better than anyone expected..probably herself included. Felicity was probably supposed to be the older lady with style and class. She has been ok, but Pam has stolen her thunder. I'm only guessing, but I expect Michelle was probably expected to be a lot better than it's turned out, that's balanced up with Gavin who has also been disappointing.
