MOTD continuing to turn in some very strong figures, must be the result of several papers claiming it is past its sell-by date

But both were wrong, it seems, to say the BBC1 figures excluded HD?

Held on to 60% of its inheritance though. Had Casualty been getting 6.5m, it may have had 4m. It is very poorly scheduled in a graveyard slot. Even without Celeb, hardly anyone will think "must flick to BBC1 for Armstrong & Miller" when TXF finishes. Had it been held over till January or February, I expect it would be getting c4m after Casualty. But it would be better off on Thursdays or Fridays.

That said, last night's wasn't the strongest episode.

Maybe they were referring to the ITV1 figures excluding HD? Or maybe they're used to post "excluding HD" and did so this time, unaware of the fact that BARB recently changed it so that BBC1's figures automatically include HD.

A simple way of remembering this is that all BBC1 ratings include HD. All of them. Even if it says "excluding HD", that's incorrect (or they're probably referring to ITV1's ratings), as all BBC1 ratings are automatically including HD and are bundled together.

Maybe people caught wind of the Royal engagee sighted at a PL game yesterday...

(Didn't catch all of MOTD, so don't know if Wills's visit to Blackpool was flagged - presumably so?)

Whoever said Saturday night TV was dead commissioned a flop Saturday night show. There are some great ratings in there.

Much as I like A&M, I feel their programme is a BBC2 show masquerading as a BBC1 programme. Some inconsistency in BBC scheduling with Not Going Out axed because of low ratings, then revived for a 10.35 slot when they need shows to replace Jonathan Ross, Harry And Paul relegated to BBC2 (although I may be in a minority when it comes to likeing this show) and Would I Lie To You (my personal choice as funniest programme of 2010 by an absolute mile) also playing in a 10.35 slot. Yet A&M, who do no better in the ratings, retain their peak-viewing slot.

A&M is a poor choice for BBC1 in the post TXF final slot on Dec 11th. They might have been better off going with MOTD at 9.30 giving its ratings last night. Although, sadly, that weekend the two big games, Spurs v Chelsea, Man Utd v Arsenal are on Sunday and Monday for live TV coverage

Yes, shots of him in the crowd, no coverage of his stag night ''rehearsal'' mentioned in some of the tabs alas

Just finishing watching XF and interesting that most of the popular acts aired in the first half, with the average acts in the middle and 2 controversial acts at the end. I reckon the most interesting bottom 2 tonight would be Katie V Wagner..

I think Chelsea losing to Birmingham () and Arsenal being turned over by Tottenham () would be more appealing to the average football fan than a quick glimpse of HRH watching the Blackpool game (Just so long as he wasn't there to ask Ian Holloway to organise his stag night. Scary thought.)

Although I think the BBC missed a trick in not inviting Wills to be in the audience at Strictly. That would have seriously p***ed off Cowell.

To be fair it was only a brief reference to Wills. I thought Harry was organising his stag do

LOL, is it getting the same ratings as Home and Away now? 1.22 million instead of 12.2 million, we'll know The X Factor has flopped when the Daily Star actually has real news on the front cover.

I expect Cowell is already working on getting the couple tickets for the X Factor final. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if his people are feeding some line to the tabloids even if there is a zillion to one prospect of such a thing ever happening.

I expect he's liaising with Clarence House though over the wedding date, to ensure no clash with BGT...

Prince Harry and his girlfriend were at last year's X Factor final so you never know

If anybody watches this show can somebody tell me should Matt Edmondson be hosting it? I hear people mention this person's name and how he'd be good on the show.

the bbc have missed a trick, not putting a new cheap family entertainment show before strictly, looking at that 4.5 million for cin highlioghs. Walk on the wild side is a mystery how it ever got re-commissioned.

They'd be mad to bring that show back again. And BBC1 really do need to try and find a few more light entertainment hits and the right presenters for them.

I would expect TXF results show to have a huge rating tonight.

Wagner was moved out of the finalists' house a couple of days ago (he says he left of his own accord, others say he was thrown out over his behaviour), and the fool then chatted to what he thought was a guest at the bar of his hotel - it was a journalist.

He says he was paying compliments about Cheryl Cole and how she was able to better herself and become a role model.
However the tabloids claim he ranted that Cheryl is a "council estate girl who got lucky".

All of which means that if Wagner is in the bottom 2, many will tune in to see what Cheryl has to say. Last night (link below) may have been just the warm-up. The tabloids of course are loving it.

The coverage has been getting a ~2% share, more than double the usual channel share. Ratings up >20% year-on-year and matches peaking at about 700k. They should definitely pick up some more darts coverage if they can as there seems to be some demand for it. They'd be better off doing that instead of spending money on those new sports panel shows they've been commissioining recently which have only been getting ~100k or even less sometimes.”

ITV4's sport strategy really working out for them at the moment - and actually so much more efficient than running a sports channel as ITV4 can just run any old crap on nights when they haven't got live sport.

Well I never thought a drama about the building of a cathedral would be the sort of thing I'd watch, but this has been one of the best shows of the year IMO. Just a shame C4 put it in a slot which did it no favours - and also as is so often the case seemed to give up promoting it once the series began - I can't say I've seen any promos since those that aired pre-series.

C4 has some good mini-series in the works at the moment, but they've really got to get their overall drama strategy right to maximise the audience - and establish a point in the schedules where viewers know they'll find quality drama on C4.

Ridiculous Wagner hasn't been given the death slot yet and made to perform first to hasten his exit - yet Dannii's boys have been first out four times whilst Cheryl's girls have been last out five times. In previous series the running order was on the whole kept fair with categories alternating in the crucial first/last slots, and usually by this stage most of the acts remaining would have both survived performing first and also had the chance to close the show.

Strictly though obviously doing the same with Widdecomme though.

Usual story - copying out bits from a press release / other article without stopping for even a few seconds to understand the position and ensure that what is being written makes any kind of sense.”

See today's News of the World for example who claim two-thirds want William and Kate to be the next King and Queen - although the actual question asked is "Who do you think will be better on the throne?", rather than who should be on the throne next. Indeed they asked that question too and 47% said the crown should pass to Charles next, with 43% William - but they're not going to let the poll not going their way get in the way of an article full of bullshit now!

26% of X-Factor's audience is 16-34.

It has a very high number of ABC1 viewers both in sheer volume terms and in percentage of its audience skew terms. I'm sure lots of unemployed people do watch but it certainly doesn't skew that way.

My thoughts exactly, it has an appeal across the board and hits the right demographics. I'd say women with children are very well represented in its audience. It would be very wrong to say TXF viewers are chavs who read The Daily Star and only watch ITV.

SCD is doing very well this series. Could be set for an all time ratings high when it's the final. Is the current highest SCD rating ever 13.3m iirc? Also Merlin just seems to be building and building.

Another excellent night for ITV1. Harry is back on top now it doesn't clash with SCD and TXF did very well as usual. Tonight might see a series high for the show so far! IAC bounced back after the Friday low, but it was always going to happen with an X Factor lead in. Tonight and tomorrow will also be strong nights for the show with another XF lead-in and a Corrie lead-in on Monday!

For god sake Robbie, can you stop being so pedantic? Really unnecessary. (after all I don't think there's any pre-requisite for Sonny2001 or dubsj to come on here at 9:45am to post ratings, is there?)
