I thought it was always decent enough. It won a Bafta so it couldnt have been that bad.

Had it got 3m+ for ep 1 on BBC2 then sank to 1m, I'd have agreed with you.

It rated consistently bad from the outset.

This week's main primetime regional variations, which may affect networked tv ratings:

Sunday 21st Nov
STV - 18:30 Kate and William: A Modern Royal Romance (90mins) instead of TV Burp rpt and The Cube.
UTV - 19:00 Lesser Spotted Ulster instead of The Cube.
BBC1 Scotland - 18:00 News instead of Jimmy's Food Factory rpt.
BBC1 Scotland - 20:00 Making Scotland's Landscape instead of Antiques Roadshow.
BBC1 Wales - 18:00 Iolo's Secret Life of Birds instead of Jimmy's Food Factory rpt.

Monday 22nd
BBC1 Scotland - 19:30 Jimmy's Food Factory instead of Inside Out.
BBC1 Wales - 19:30 X-Ray instead of Inside Out.
BBC1 NI - 19:30 Getaways instead of Inside Out.

Tuesday 23rd
STV - 19:30 Cheetah Kingdom instead of River Monsters.
BBC1 Scotland - 20:00 River City instead of Holby City.

Wednesday 24th
STV - 19:30 Showing Champions League (Rangers v Man U) but with different studio to ITV.
BBC1 Scotland - 20:00 Holby City instead of Jimmy's Food Factory & Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers .
BBC1 Wales - 19:30 Coming Home instead of Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention.

Friday 26th
STV - 20:00 Postcode Challenge instead of Cheetah Kingdom.

Saturday 27th
BBC1 Wales - 18:00 Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention (new) instead of Impressions Show.

Sunday 28th

STV - 18:45 Cheetah Kingdom instead of Harry Hill's TV Burp rpt.
BBC1 Scotland - 18:00 Wallace & Gromit's World of Invention rpt instead of Jimmy's Food Factory rpt.
BBC1 Wales - 18:00 Iolo's Secret Life of Birds instead of Jimmy's Food Factory rpt.

STV having a quiet week opt out wise due to I'm A Celeb being on daily, although they are doing their own football analysis on Wednesday rather than using Adrian Chiles. Not sure if they would remove the separate STV football coverage from the BARB officials or not though.
Over on the BBC main thing to note is BBC1 Scotland currently airing Holby on Wednesday's instead of the food programs.

Amazing for The X Factor and to a lesser extent Strictly. IAC benefitted hugely from the massive lead-in it received and put in a very good performance. Countryfile did wonderfully again also.

Elsewhere, disappointing for Any Human Heart on Channel 4, but an excellent evening for Channel 5. So-so for BBC Two.

Really bad night for Channel 4 actually. River Cottage Best Bites was a miserable flop. And Deck The Halls bombed for a premiere opposite A Bug's Life. Only positive for them is Deal or No Deal is still pulling in the viewers after all this time!

Why put it in such a competitive slot? And as with Pillars, no repeat.

All Day Shares

ITV1 19.6%
BBC One 18.1%
BBC Two 6.5%
Channel 5 5.8%
Channel 4 5.1% (including +1)
ITV2 3.2% (including +1)

Nice win for C5 over C4. In primetime it would appear C5 beat BBC Two as well.

The lack of Formula 1 racing really dented BBC One's daytime share, resulting in an ITV1 win.

I agree, it was foolish scheduling. C4 scheduling in general is a sorry state of affairs right now. Maybe they were influenced by the success of Downton in that slot, but they should have avoided a juggernaut like IAC at all costs.

No real advance on last week for TXF, in terms of new viewers, just benefitted from the shorter slot and no SCD clash.

SCD's performance this year is astonishing - 11.1m for the results show, and real gathering momentum, but without needing 8 pages of build up and front page freakshow "exclusives" in the Sunday papers to achieve it.

Antiques Roadshow continuing to be one of the most popular shows of the week despite what it is up against, and Garrow holding up for ep 2, despite the big sumptuous new drama on Ch 4.

Really, Ch4 should have saved it for the New Year - it got rather lost and the ratings reflected that. Shame.

Another phenomenal rating for XF and with the two controversial acts still in the competition, it probably hasn't peaked yet. IAC remained very stable hardly down from last Sunday, most likely due to the anticipation of the live trial. Ant & Dec's faces after Gillian fainted was TV gold-another Hollie Steel moment..apart from this time Dec looked like he wanted to burst out laughing.

The SCD results don't seem to be as much of an event as the performance shows, whereas for XF it's the other way round. But 11m+ is still amazing and the revamp has really worked this series. A rating that stands out for me is Jimmy's Food Factory managing almost 5m for a repeat of a show which only got 3m on Wednesday.

Pretty poor nights for BBC2 and CH4, but CH5's films performed excellently all against tough competition.

Could "The One Ronnie" fill BBC1's 10pm Christmas Day comedy gap?

Hope so, sounds rather fun.

In light of the overnight figures, I hope when the BBC finalise their w/e 12 December schedules today, they take note of last night and keep SCD in its rightful place at 7.30pm. Let ITV move TXF to 8pm if they are worried about a clash of their own making.

Yeah, a massive drop to a mere 11.1m from 11.4m the night before....

You'll have to try harder than that, Zoe!

Well, it's rather devalued these days. I wouldn't describe it as "all-important" any more...

Without wanting to step on your toes, didn't Strictly have a perfectly good schedule 2 years ago? Had they never moved Strictly from Sundays at 8pm then X Factor would not moved into that slot, and it would not be peaking at ~17m every week.

I didn't say there was a massive drop..11.1m is still an amazing figure. All I'm saying is that XF increased by 2m for its results episode and SCD decreased by 0.3m, which surprises me a little bit. I thought there would be a trend where both shows increase considerably. Which is why I said SCD's performance shows are more of an event than the results.

With SCD you can find out the result without watching the resluts show, loads of people do it on here every week, you can get the result from around midnight on Saturday online, I only watch the performance shows.

Interesting, so BBC1 will have the following film premieres over Christmas:

Indiana Jones And The Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull
Wall-E
Shrek The Third
Cars
Bee Movie
Enchanted
Chronicles Of Narnia 2 – Prince Caspian

I assume Shrek The Third will go in the late afternoon Christmas Day slot and rate very highly there. Indiana Jones has got to be a dead cert for a primetime showing so I guess that could be the post Eastenders Boxing Day movie this year.

Some big premieres there. I wonder where Wall-E is going to go.

Some good movies in there. Wall E should go on Christmas Day. Much better than Cars.
