Thanks C.M.W, do you know when the second series of 'So you think you can dance' will air? As there seems to be a new 'magicans' show on Saturdays in January.
A lot later in the year than most are expecting, the application process requires contestants to have a work permit valid until Saturday June 11th 2011. I'd be surprised if it appears before March, so it appears it is taking the ALW slot which was originally the time of year SDF was on.

Outcasts will now be 2011. This week is the last chance to start an eight parter before Xmas intrudes and unless it launches with no press and publicity, we'd already have known a date by now and as the rest of the 9pm slots are now sorted for the next few weeks, it has no choice but to slip back. It has been in development for a long time so a transmission "delay" of a few weeks won't harm it. The big question is "Will it be any good?" Kudos's track record would suggest it should be excellent, but you never know...
People have short memories around here and you only have to look back to the debates about Gavin and Stacey last year to remember the BBC don't do sensible things like schedule series to finish in time for Christmas. I wouldn't be surprised at all if this, or any other BBC series, found it self launching at the beginning of December and then continuing, possibly in a different slot, in the New Year.

It's starting on December 10 in the US, on BBC America, so there´ll be feedback before we get it here.

Gavin and Stacey's final series was a totally different situation. It was scheduled so to Finish at Christmas/ New Year. Outcasts is a completely different situation

Yeah because it has happened so often in the past with major new dramas

ON BBCHD yesterday they said it's back on Wednesday on their new BBC1 HD yet doesn't seem to be in the listings and they had no preview at the end

Last night was the Mid-series finale I think. Next 10 episodes in the new year at some stage I suppose.

Oh gosh at that Strictly Speaking rating from Oz. Neighbours i feel could do with a better lead in. I do wonder what it would be like if they had MasterChef on at 6.30pm - 7.30pm and Neighbours at 7.30pm, that said, too late now.
Well said about Neighbours needing a strong lead-in, like Home And Away has always had. Its Channel TEN thats the problem, not Neighbours

Christmas is the only time EastEnders gets different slots
Not last year. By accident or design Christmas Day was at the normal Friday 8pm, and the 2nd New Years Day filled the 8pm slot (actually started 7.55pm) as with a normal Friday. All Mon/Tue/Thu episodes were as normal. So thats why I don't see it getting moved from normal slots this year

EDIT - Just go through some recent listings on The TV Room+. Eastenders kept it's normal slots on Christmas Eve/27th/28th/31st Dec 2007, 1st Jan/26th Dec 2008 as well. (The gaps are either for Christmas Day, Wednesdays, or no listings available)

On New years day EastEnders aired twice once at 7:55pm and the other was earlier at 6:10pm.
They also added an EXTRA episode for boxing day which was a Saturday last year

My advice to the ITV schedulers, regarding Coronation St:

Stop beggaring about with it!!!

Ditch the extra Friday episode, which is the worst peforming of the week, and keep the soap to a 7.30 start time, which everyone is familiar with.

Roll your eyes all you like, but the truth is it does happen every year with the BBC with some series beginning too late to wrap up for Christmas and then either being moved about the schedules over Christmas or a couple of episodes remaining to air come January.

I've switched off Coronation Street since they started showing two episodes in a night. It's too much of a chore to watch two in one night.

The only series you mentioned that was effected by this scheduling was Gavin and Stacey. You made it sound like Gavin and Stacey was adversly effected, yet the scheduling was a masterstroke and both episodes on during the festive period got over 10m.

Wow, great night for ABC there, well apart from 10pm as usual.
Modern Family is obviously the stand-out but The Middle is doing really well too. A year ago it was hovering around 2.0 but now it's a great start to the night. They'll probably be hoping for the same thing to happen to Better With You.

But 10pm is really dragging them down. They haven't ranked better than third at all this season on Wednesdays because of The Whole Truth.

Absolutely nothing in the 21st Century has launched successfully at 10pm on Wednesdays for ABC - just looking through the schedules from seasons gone by on Wiki and there must be more than a dozen shows which have come and gone. The only way they're going to solve the problem is by moving an existing hit into that hour.

10pm has become old skewing but it is a slot that thrives on cable with the likes of Jersey Shore, Pawn Stars etc Even CBS isn't doing as well at 10pm with the exception of The Mentalist.

Something I forgot to post the other day, this is what BBC Two, Channel 4 and Five average between 06:00 and 08:30 (in this case Tuesday) :

Five - 0.15m (4.3%)
Channel 4 - 0.09m (2.4%) (inc +1)
BBC Two - 0.07m (2.3%)

Didn't think Five would be leading the children's programme, although it is by a fairly 'big' margin for that time of the morning. OK, its only a 1 day sample, but interesting to see nevertheless.

Low rating for Monte Carlo or Bust - one of the worst ratings for a non-repeat in that slot this year. Proof once again that some shows don't really benefit from following Corrie, and actually 71 Degrees North has been doing better on Tuesdays without the big lead-ins.

A little improvement for BBC1's 9-10pm shows compared to last week but still pretty disappointing figures for HIGNFY considering it was getting 5m+ earlier this year in the same slot against normal competition. Channel 4 did quite well by recent standards at 9pm, and MPD will have got 2m+ once C4+1 is factored in.
