Channel 4 has confirmed The Inbetweeners is coming back for two specials next year after the movie release.

Also some new comedies commissioned by them, most for E4: http://www.guardian.co.uk/media/2010...eners-specials

Given ratings for Series 3, this can't really be seen as a surprise.

Echoing what D.M.N. said-all 3 main primetime shows above 2m for CH4. MPD has really boosted their schedule this week and I reckon it should be brought back as a weekly series, because the 'event TV' novelty scheduling of having it run every day throughout a week will wear off soon. Awful 6.30pm figure for Hollyoaks though, but I have noticed they really are going all out to make sure the fire episodes are the episodes to save the show. London tube billboards, classy adverts. I wouldn't be surprised to see one or two ads popping up on ITV1 either. CH4 need those episodes to be a success. On the other hand Hollyoaks Later is performing excellently imo for E4, increasing its audience aswell is great. Only 0.4m behind the main Ch4 showing aswell.

It will be interesting to see what the full ITV1 inc HD figures are, but a 0.3m gap between Emmerdale & Corrie. Thursday always seems to be the day where the big 3 are quite close. Very poor for Monte Carlo and I reckon it's time for ITV to stop with these celebrity type reality shows, because they are cheap and tacky and don't do any good for the ITV brand. They're best to sticking to quality factual like The Lakes and the prison documentaries. They could do with a couple of food shows aswell. I think the exception though is 71 Degrees North, which I reckon has potential. The audience has been very stable in the weakest 9pm slot of the week and I reckon if it was given a 2nd series, more promotion, better celebs and a better slot it would easily increase. But I'm not sure if ITV will think an average just over 3m is good enough.

Thursdays on CH5 are a bit hit and miss when the footie isn't on, because it's always one off docs and repeats, but the football certainly makes up for it.

The state Channel 4 are in is really overplayed. They have their bad nights but they also have plenty of shows with more than 2m viewers to keep them afloat. I agree that MPD novelty will wear off soon but they're kind of running it weekly for the next couple of Friday and Saturday nights. I think they could benefit from running it across the week at 9pm when there is little other competition (it would have got slaughtered this week).

With regards to Monte Carlo or Bust, I'm not surprised at all. It possibly had one of the most annoying and overplayed ad campaigns on ITV which was enough to turn viewers away before even watching it.

Thursday's soap ratings [including HD for ITV]:

19:00- Emmerdale: 7.02m (35.1%)
19:30- EastEnders: 8.37m (38.5%)
20:00- Emmerdale: 7.73m (33.5%)
20:30- Coronation Street: 8.03m (34%)
22:00- EastEnders (BBC3): 864k (4.3%)

Very close between Emmerdale and Corrie - when was the last time there was just a difference of 0.3m between the two on the same night? Emmerdale's 8pm episode was a whopping 15% (i.e. a million) up from the same day last year. Corrie up 4% y-o-y.

That's incredible for Emmerdale, to be so close to Corrie. I remember it being close before, but never 0.3m. The Emmerdale 8pm slot is a stroke of genius. And to maintain the great quality when producing effectively 7 episodes this week is amazing.

Excellent for Emmerdale. Although I rarely watch nowdays, the quality always looks good when I flick on so it deserves it's ratings. I wonder what ITV would think if Emmerdale edged ahead of Corrie, on Thursdays at least.

Good to see C4's comedy budget getting an extra £5m. With the British Comedy Awards as well, it could be the chance for C4 to really restore its reputation in that genre.

Bad news if you're in Scotland and were hoping for a sports-fest a week on Sunday. STV are opting out of the FA Cup unsurprisingly, while BBC1 Scotland is opting out of the live Championship football game and the Brazilian Grand Prix, the latter is being shunted to BBC2 Scotland.

um Channel 1 seems to have dropped the 2nd episode of the Criminal Minds double bills, cant find where its going, Digiguide still has the numbers wrong, (im sure that will change) I had thought it was double bills so they could finish the season before the channel closed.

Also why is C1, claiming its Medium repeats are "All New" as the season was on V1 & C1.

Less than 23m watching in the 9pm hour... I can only attribute that down to Halloween Parties meaning less people watching TV.

Not sure. No website has reported its 7pm rating. The last time we saw a figure for it, it had ~200k. It might've done a little bit better than that yesterday due to no Hollyoaks first-look on E4.
