You've just ruined ftv's weekend

Their summer was abysmal, James Corden's World Cup Show was like pulling teeth and we had the usual reality rotters like Jedward Let Loose and Marco's Kitchen Burnout.
I think ITV on balance, though, are starting to get it right at the times when most people are watching. Their recent line up of TXF, Piers Morgan Interviews and An Audience With has been excellent for ratings. Bear in mind it wasn't so long ago that clunkers like Stars In Their Eyes and Blind Date were still being shown on Saturdays.

Says it all, really.

That will be interesting. The last series averaged 4.5m in the overnights, and 4.7m with the episode that clashed with Doctor Who removed. However, the 2008 series averaged 5.7m and that aired in the January-February slot that this series is getting, whereas the 2009 run was dented by airing in the Spring/Summer (the shares were the same as the 2008 run). However, it has been a long time since the last series and viewers who didn't watch the last series may not return.

On the flip side, the cast changes are pretty significant this time around which could lure back some of the viewers as they may have the view that it's a new start so therefore may return to the show. The worse weather should boost it too. I really hope it does well as it's a good show and it's the sort of thing ITV could do with more of (not necessarily pre-watershed, but certainly the genre) and they're already stuck with it for 2012 whether it rates well or not.

Any reason why The Increasingly Poor Decisions of Todd Margaret has got such an awful slot on More4 - 10.40pm on Sundays. The Increasingly Poor Decisions of More4 schedulers perhaps? If it's rotten, then why all the promo? Very odd.

I think it will do well as fantasy and SF have been ratings bankers in recent years- typical ratings for these shows have been anything from 5-6 million for non Doctor Who shows.

Yeah, me and Brekkie discussed this earlier in the thread. No idea what More4 are playing at giving it a horrible slot like that.

They also gave a lot of promotion this week to Robin Williams: Weapons of Self-Destruction. Timeslot? Saturday 11.00pm.

The channel has some good programming but unfortunately the execution is abysmal, a stark contrast to the excellently run E4.

Not that it is BARB registered anyway, but just to note that CNN will close down on Freeview tonight at 0000hrs.

Also "ITV Preview 1" has appeared on the platform, not sure if that will be replacing it or indeed what exactly will be previewed on that stream.

Talking of Corrie earlier - just came across this on the Corrie site. Suprisingly from this it seems that the Tram Crash episode will be on Monday 6th December and also possibly suggests a 9-10pm timeslot - as surely the ITV2 show would directly follow the ITV1 episode?

I wonder where ITV got this idea from?

Any predicions for the Take That documentary tonight? I reckon it could get 8m or even more.

That's a high prediction. I predict about 5.5-6m as it's 90 minutes and finishes quite late which might dent its average and I really can't see it getting more viewers than Cheryl Cole's interview a few weeks ago which had loads of press coverage.

There was an Audience with Take That special a few years ago which had ~5.5m after following TXF (although TXF was rating worse back then). I can't see a documentary about them (black and white too) doing too much better.

The actual crash won't be live as far as I know. The aftermath will be live.

Coincidentally, adverts started today trailing 'Starts Monday 6th December'.

Presumably the nicely seasonal 'tram-crashing-into-nightclub-wiping-out-half-the-cast' episode isn't the 50th anniversary live episode, given the logistics involved in that - or will film of this no doubt convincing event be 'played-in' to the live episode?

(I assume it's already been filmed - I noticed Granada had big screens and sheets up round the visible to the public end of the Corrie set a few weeks ago when I went past)

I reckon the Take That documentary could get 8million + if they, what with the great lead in from tonight's X-Factor.

Given the large promotion Coronation Street is getting, I predict about 12- 15 million for the Tram Crash episode?

Yeah i know they crash is unlikley to be Live. As you say the aftermath is - so mabye there will not be any extra episodes that week( which i expected there would) - as the Live episode will be surely be on the Thursday itself ( well i'm sure it would be) and i don't think that it would be say the actual Tram Crash on Monday, aftermath ( not live) on say Tuesday or Wed , then aftermath (Live) on Thursday.

On the 9-10 timeslot - i just though that the ITV2 show would be directly after the ITV1 showing - they wouldn't wait an hour or whatever would they? Seems most logical to me. Unless they don't want to dent I'm A Celeb ( Coming out) or whatver is in the ITV1 9pm timeslot.

BTW, did anyone else notice a 5/10 second Daybreak clip in the start of The X Factor? They couldn't have made that more obvious!

Yeah it will be - not doubt make lots of discussion and fantasy schedules!

And yeah i did catch the Daybreak clip, but to be fair it did have a bit of a lik to it cause they were talking about the " outrage" of last week. And they always used to show GMTV/ ITV News when some big thing has happened the previous week. Look how many times the GMTV "Cheryl's got malaria" clip got shown during the audition shows - like for about 3 weeks as "Next week on the X Factor!"
