lol there is no reason that anyone would think that

What is it with the UK an these "extra" shows, I dont know anywhere else in the world that has them, even our two biggest soaps have them now.

as for ITV Preview 1, well it is just like ITV to add something to Freeveiw, before annoucing what it is.

The Corrie advert is really good. Very eye catching and mysterious, and aired directly before TXF tonight, with 3 clear weeks to go until the episodes in question.

I imagine it'll air prominently for the next few weeks. I predict big numbers for that week!

My weekend's going fine thanks Andy, my team won yesterday as well. Interesting that as soon as Daybreak puts on a few viewers (it was below 700,000 earlier in the week) so does BBC Breakfast.

Brilliant rating for Strictly... but TV Burp and X Factor?! Is that 13.5m correct? If so, highest ever Saturday rating for X Factor! Highest ever rating for TV Burp too. Superb.

Also really good to see Merlin over 6m.

We should the 'officials' for the first episode from BARB tomorrow. But don't hold your breath. The FX ratings are very erratic and often they don't appear at all. Don't know why.

Wow, some brilliant ratings yesterday. Despite the early-ish start for Strictly, it managed its best rating of the series and highest non-final rating ever. Also interesting to see that Merlin wasn't boosted too much when it didn't face TXF (up about half a million compared to recent weeks) which confirms that nearly of its audience don't watch TXF anyway. Great rating though - its best overnight since series 1.

Amazing rating for TV Burp - as D.M.N. says his best ever rating and it just shows how much the rejuvinated SCD has been denting the show recently. As for TXF, it doesn't get much better than that - best ever Saturday rating and up 13% from the same episode last year. Take That did okay-ish for a 90 minute documentary which finished quite late. Past ratings for Take That programmes indicated that 8m+ was never going to happen.

Wow! Some amazing ratings there. 10.7m for SCD is great, considering there was a gap between it and the XF. And Merlin got a nice boost from not being up against XF. Casualty suffered again from being directly up against the XF and having the lottery junction between Merlin/Casualty.

But the rating of the day has to be TV Burp..highest ever rating! Should put to rest the people who are saying the show is getting worse. Naturally, I think it was boosted from having a sort of SCD/XF sandwich slot, but I actually thought its audience would clash with Merlin more. I think this shows the revamped SCD is hurting TV Burp significantly. Easily 2m up on every new episode that has aired this series.

And the XF controvesy of the last week boosted the XF hugely! 13.5 is fantastic and I reckon if it wasn't for the SCD clash tonight it would be well over 15m. Expecting a huge peak now.

did Burp overrun?

If it did, I don't think it would boost the overnights only the official ratings.

Well, not really - I still think it's a shadow of what it used to be, but away from stiff competition and airing slap bang in the middle of a Strictly/X-Factor sandwich, it was always going to see a huge boost last night. I don't think it's particularly indicative of the quality of the show itself.

Another attempt to boost Hollyoaks ratings:

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/soaps/s1...t-special.html

Interesting one. I don't think a late night special has ever aired on Ch4 only, and it's strange only being a one off. Will be interesting to see if it gets a 9pm or 10pm slot.

I agree. It's usually getting around 8.5 million with both the Saturday and Sunday repeat making ITV's Top 30.

I wonder if today's figure will dip as more would have seen it last night?

Not really it benefited from the larger than usual gap between SCD and The X factor. It says nothing about quality.
The last 5 minutes last week had 8m as well during the gap between SCD finishing and X factor starting. So it's not surprising that it posted a similar rating this week when the whole show is clash free.

I'll probably be one of only a couple of people who pick up on the tiny 1.6m gap between SCD and TXF peaks. That 12.3m peak is absolutely sensational for Strictly.

For a show that airs a full 2 hours earlier than TXF, these are amazing figures.

TXF got a lift from its usual 12.2m Saturday "rut" - but how much of that was down to Merlin airing earlier? The 13.9m peak isn't, IIRC, all that much higher than the peak on recent Saturday nights?

Doesn't seem to have carried forward the huge lift it got on Sunday night to last night.

The Festival of Remembrance got its usual mystifyingly high ratings - c5m is great for what is basically a church service which aired against the climax of TXF and the massively hyped Take That advertorial. That it got essentially the same rating as Take That is amazing.

It did a lot better than BBC1's usual TXF competition! Should BBC1 move Songs of Praise, live, to Saturdays?

Oh, come off it. You know perfectly well it got 8m simply because SCD finished very early last night and SCD>TXF switchers just put ITV on for half an hour. ITV could have aired the testcard last night from 7.20-8pm and got 7m.

TV Burp is a shadow of its former self, even its fans are slagging it off now on the TV Burp thread.

Have you got money on it getting 8m again next week?

BTW, is it TV Burp's highest overnight? Didn't it get 8m+ when ITV aired it at 8.15 between two episodes of TXF?

Harry Hill got that amount because its rival programme got 6.0 instead of 12.0. My parents had it on for the first time simply just the fill the gap between SCD and XF

I expected 6.5-7.5 for TT after Cheryl, Subo etc

Didn't stop many excited ITVistas predicting that though. They will be crying into their cornflakes this morning.

Take That - a smidgin more popular than a church service.

BBC1 really should have dropped Casualty last night, instead of bringing SCD and Merlin forward to squeeze everything in.

Had SCD aired at 6.30, Merlin 7.50, Lott 8.35, News 8.50, FoR 9.10 and MOTD 10.45, everything would have done better - goodness knows what SCD's peak might have been (close to 13m?) - TV Burp would have got 5m, and MOTD would have aired at close to its normal time and rated better too.

Silly BSI...

The 13.9m peak is a 15-minute peak, whereas the ones we've seen in previous weeks have been 5-minute peaks. The 5-minute peak last night was probably about 14.5m.

The TV Burp episode a couple of years ago sandwiched between TXF had 7.7m in the overnights. So yes, yesterday was TV Burp's highest overnight rating.

OK. I guess we'll have to wait till Monday week to see if last night's was in fact the highest rated ep then. The official figure was 8.6m IIRC?

Working with this weeks figures to one decimal place, The X Factor peaked 830,000 higher than last week. Strictly peaked 860,000 higher than last week. The gap in averages grew. This week X Factor lead Strictly by 2.8m compared to 2m last week.

I think the Take That special underperformed. It had a lot of hype this week and a 9.30pm start time from a stronger week of X Factor. I guess it would be difficult to have 4 people on Life Stories all at once. I thought it should have got 6m.

Just thought I'd mention that SCD started early last night. Also, TXF didn't have competition from Merlin.

Hope this helps you out...

If you think the Festival of Remembrance was like a church service you must have been watching a different programme from what BBC1 was showing. Personally I find the audience for Harry Hill recycling a few VT clips equally mystifying.
